For example - when in the main UI it will scroll through the various menus/options/apps, however I wouldn't want it to because I would be using the wheel roller to switch stations in sirius or FM and when scrolling through my recent calls to make a BT phone call with the OEM BT (sorry the android BT is not as good as the OEM system. No-one can hear me when I use it). I noticed a new menu to check and uncheck various button functions and i suspect I will have to do this to avoid the system scrolling when i really don't want it to as i will lose the wheel scroll. Is there a work around or was this by design? If this is how its going to be then the new UI wont be that useful if you don't plan on using the factory radio.

I have also noticed a bug earlier today where it would open the OEM interface and when i went to touch the screen to go to the android UI, it would quickly switch back to the OEM screen. A restart seems to have fixed this.

Why are there so many bugs/restarts when an update is applied? Maybe I am in the minority because I have one of the original units. Should we be doing a factory reset of the entire device when these updates come out?
    1. I have to check if there is way to suspend the button signal input when the radio is not in aux. Meanwhile, it you don't want to steering buttons just uncheck it. They will stop working. Also you can still use the launcher of your choices.

    2. Maybe your mic board is faulty. Myself, i disabled the factory BT, and have no issue on our bt with my pixel xl. (Indeed i think voice call volume is a bit too quiet.)

    3. Did you disabled parkimg key in the realsun setting?

    4. I think you may better to send it back to us and have a replacement. It's the same hardware, but many thing were added as vents, heatsink, 3.5mm audio output.
However, it is recommended to fo a factory reset after update, as android builds up entropy when update over existing apps(consequence of so called the dirty install).

I plan on playing around more today and do a factory reset to see if this solves some issues. If things still persist, i'll get in touch with you about a replacement and we can go from there.

I should be able to add to the wiki regarding menu translations today. Hopefully that can be applied soon to really refine the unit. Also need to figure out why climate controls do not show up when i adjust the temp.

I think canbus decoding software thingy may be act weird these days, such as coming and going parking guidelines.

All the resolution same models use a identical software, and they debugged the software on a 2012 mmi vehicle recently, whereas they debugged based on a concert car before. Maybe this is why... But I am not sure.

Expecting the publication of the source codes give us more insights.

It's always not easy to get the best of all world, i guess.

What are you referring to by disabling the parkimg key? What does it do enabled and disabled?

Disabled. If already done, perform factory reset. I will also check if there is canbus update for concert as those are related to canbus.

Nothing shows up now for me. Hopefully a factory reset fixes this.

As I have mentioned a few times, adding seat heater popup would be nice as well.

When you disable the left wheel key, there is no way to scroll through the apps from the "app" icon on the new UI. Basically, you need to enable it and switch the "home" in android from the new one to google now in order to get into native android. There should be arrows in the app list to scroll like there are in other menus in the realsun settings.

If you'd like to add your custom image, just let me know the title of the image type to be displayed in the realsun setting, and send your image to [email protected]

Meanwhile, I will try to update the app itself to be customizable on the device.
Created a new one for the A5 image as the one currently isn't very good quality. But it would be awesome to have the ability to choose a custom image in the realsun settings

I still do not know what parkimkey is. Can you elaborate or tell me where it is in settings? I did the factory rest and it seems to be much better. However u cannot use the new UI due to the rollers having unintentional clicks when using Sirius, etc. There isn't a way the scroll the app list without the rollers. Need to figure this out.

Eh... If you drag the screen with your finger... You can go further down. It's not like the ui doesn't support touch...

Parking key is in the realsun setting, further down.

The touch was not working at all to scroll down, I tried.

What does parking key do? Why do I want it enabled or disabled?

That's not normal eh... Is your touch completely dead at all?

The list should go down when you drag a finger from top to bottom. Downward.

Parking key is something available with the oem reverse cam that you can monitor the rear even before you shift to reverse.

For cars without this, if the setting is enabled, then it would cause erratic behavior that the ui keeps switch back to oem screen regardless of your command every few second until you restart. From the new firmware, it has been disabled by default.

Touch screen works fine, but in that location of "apps" pulling up or down does nothing. There are no arrows to push either like in other menus. I'll have to look again for this parking key and see whats what.

    That's really not normal.
As if you scroll up and down on your pixel to browse, it should respond the same. Put a finger intact and drag up and down should make the rectangular selection changes accordingly. Try the usb to usb method like before. There is the recovery kit in the wiki(dev. Resources).

Meanwhile, i will discuss to have arrows in that app picker.

Just tried and now it seems to be working. Its not really intuitive to scroll like that, but it is what it is. As I noted before there were tons of reboots and restarts when this was applied, so it looks like things have finally smoothed out.

I am not using the new UI as its not going to work for me. There needs to be some more refinement to be able to change the iNav hotkey (to open any app you want) and ignore the wheel scroll when trying to operate the factory interface without disabling it completely in settings. I like the "look" of the new UI, it is much better suited for use in a car compared to the previous one.

There should be some options to be able to change what shows up in the main menu. Example - the AUX in. I have nothing hooked up here so its a useless icon. I am sure I am not the only one with nothing added as a secondary input.

Sorry to sort of bash, but there are some things that still need a little more work.

Agree 99% as I´m using the new UI instead of carwebguru. Just because of the OEM look and wheel control, as CWB offers much more personalization options.

Yes, some more detailed work is needed, but the software is improving fast. That´s why I think wiki is a very good option to let Daniel know what´s right or wrong... I´m aware you are contributing, me too.

I think the software is about "there" and is really usable right now. What needs to be worked on is the appearance and layout of the overall system. Some menus are not easy to understand what they do and do not follow the same style as the previous ones.

It will get there, i have no doubt!

Anyone using the "Android Auto/AutoPlay" dongle?

I've update my 7" unit with all the recent firmware updates (Android and MCU) but when starting "AutoPlay" it prompts what to do with the USB device (which I assume is the dongle) When I select "make this the default" for the device it just keeps prompting me, everytime I start AutoPlay. Not impossible to deal with, but seems like if it asks me to make a permanent decision it should remember it...

Ditto but so far I just deal with it. It’s a minor thing so I haven’t personally taken the time to put it on the bug list yet.

Could you elaborate on what the issue is?

If it's just a question of tweaking video sync frequencies or whatever to get the passthrough working, I could maybe help with that if the hardware is otherwise functional and those settings are somehow accessible, even if it's a firmware thing (provided there's a mechanism for updating the firmware without JTAG etc.)

Trying to figure out how to reassign the apps which are linked with different icons in the new user interface I thought that maybe uninstalling, lets say, MX Player, the system would ask for a new music player app to prompt when pushed the "media" icon.

    Would this "hack" work?

Have you applied the updated apk for the dongle?

I don’t use ACP that much, so can’t remember if that resolved that after applying the new apk. I’ll try it tonight.

Also if the apk isn’t on the site/wiki, I’ll see if I can add it tonight.

May be a dumb question.. can't find the answer, but what is the best way to remove the screen frame (black) from the original silver bezel?

Get some needle nose pliers and start breaking it carefully from the silver bezel. You will see welded tabs that you need to break it off from. Just be careful and slow.

It is impossible to tell if the update is an update. That being said. I have downloaded the latest from the link in the wiki and it didn’t update anything so I assume I’m on the latest version.

Let me quote this post that will help you:

    4. Copied update.zip to SD card and Internal storage root.
    5. Unplugged the USB drive and plugged it in
    6. Brings up the update code and you enter '888666'

After the update of about 30min and multiple restarts

    1. Delete update.zip on USB drive, SD card and internal storage root.
    2. Copy mcu_update.bin to USB drive
    3. Brings up the update code to be entered cancelled that

    5. Unplugged the USB drive and plugged it in

Again let the unit restart a few times, but its a lot quicker

And finally delete the zip files from all of the storage locations to clean up
So you need two different files to aply: update.zip (1 Gb) and mcu_update.bin (several Kb). Follow the instructions step by step and everything will be ok.

Besides, take into consideration that the update takes several reboots to take effect... so be patient.

    Would this "hack" work?

mcu_update file is available on RSNAV.com / downloads

    First apply update.zip, then mcu_update.bin

That´s how I did it and worked fine.
