I am one of the original beta testers for the 7" unit in my A4. The install was fairly simple with the hardest part running the wires for the rear camera and relay to turn on the camera (only required for 6M).
Mine has been installed since August and its been running generally well with one major software update issued. Sounds like another one is right around the corner.
I had some time to install my 7" unit and it is now up and running. I yet to install the backup camera or the android auto adapter. I am planning on adding those during the week or next weekend. I am going to run the android auto/spare usb into my center console. Elscotto did you mount the GPS antenna on the dash or by the rear view mirror? I am thinking of moving my antenna and running the wire up to the mirror area.
Some installation tips,
When installing the new screen surround trim piece, just push on the old surround until it breaks off. You can heat the existing plastic welds with a heat gun or hair dryer to make them more brittle. Once the old trim is out of the way you can use a knife to clean the remaining plastic weld off the tabs. DO NOT SCORE THE TABS BEFORE BREAKING OFF THE OLD TRIM. You will lose the entire tab! However the tabs just serve as an alignment tool so as long as you have some of them left you are fine.
When replacing the radio, check to make sure the large adapter and Audi radio plug are sitting above a metal bar found near the back of the opening (which I assume the rear of the radio rests on). It took me a few minutes to realize the adapter was catching on that bar when I slid the radio back in. Another pro tip might be not to do the install at night like I did

.
The AMI can be removed without the audi/vw radio keys if you aren't worried about bending some of the plastic. Ask me how I know!
I was able to use OBDeleven to code AUX into my radio. I am also going to see if it can disable the Audi BT (otherwise your wheel control will launch google AND the audi voice command function) and will update the thread.
I got a chance to test the unit out this weekend and was very impressed. The quality of the screen is great and it looks totally OEM. The google maps was snappy and thanks to BT streaming I WILL NEVER AGAIN HAVE TO ADD MUSIC TO AN IPOD.
