What are the symptoms of a blown turbo..

My 02' makes a wheezing and hissing sound at 3-4k rpm when in gear. Is this a blown turbo? I took it to Newport Audi and they can't find the problem. I've noticed a reduction in power when accelerating.

White smoke out the back is a symptom of a blown turbo...

my guess is you have a boost leak. Have them hook your car up to a smoker or have it pressure tested...

Mine sounded like a jet engine about to take off when one of the blades on the compressor side broke off. Pic is of a K04.

Good reference. The worse a turbo gets the more it sounds like a supercharger. If it whines theres a good likely hood its blown.

hey lvmshavd....thats very professional of you. Just as porfessional as using information of customers cars that arent in the shop to warranty parts for your personal car.

Cut the guys some slack, maybe they couldnt honestly find a problem with the turbo...speaking of honesty....how does it feel to get fired for being crooked? Or how does it feel that audi has black listed you from all other dealerships? Just because you got caught and it cost you your job, dosent mean that you need to go and rain on everyone elses parade. How does it help you to talk trash on another dealer when your not even in the business anymore?

Wow.. that's interesting. your first post and you blast someone about being professional. If you had all the facts, you would know that the service manager at Newport Beach was Chris's friends, who use to work with luvemshvd.

As for warranting parts off of others information.. why would that be necessary? His car just got hit 50K miles the week before Christmas.

And why bring an ancient post up and talk shit as if the events happened yesterday. And lest just say what you said about luvemshvd is true (which I doubt) who the fuck are you to put his business in public like that.. talk about lack of professionalism.. What a dick...

I blew a turbo once... You would know if it was blown. There is insane ammounts of white smoke coming out of the exhaust and basically you can not drive the car anywhere. Mine blew on 93 coming back from skiing in Vermont just as I was starting to climb up into the while mountains and I had enough time to get the car off the highway at the next exit (like 1 mile away) before the car totally died. Had to be towed and everything. Its a real mess.

Hey, I need help!!! Just bought a 2003 A4 1.8t a monthy ago and Im getting white smoke out of the tailpipe (totally random times), hesitation, and on the way to work today everytime I stopped it dropped to about 500 rpm and acted like it was gonna die. Having the PCV and hoses replaced monday, anybody have any ideas??? Thanks a lot, your help is absolutely appreciated.
