EGT sensor location mount on engine or firewall?

I'm putting my engine back together after a bottom end build and can't for the life of me remember where the EGT sensor boxes mount to.

Do they attach to the heads, or the rear of the IM, or the firewall? Can someone help me out here?

They go on the back of the intake manifold on the 2 longer studs, if I'm remembering correctly.

Do they both sit on the same two studs?

Yes, back to back. It goes, IM>Spacer> EGT + EGT > Nut.

I think the driver side EGT is closest to the IM, but you can try both configs to see what fits best for you.

For those with sensors not stacked.. did you buy your car recently? Are your EGT sensors different colors or the same color?

Maybe 5 years ago, ECS tuning had a sale on 2 passenger side sensors (black ones IIRC) as a combo deal, where the passenger sensor probe wire is shorter.. so the likely owner at the time hacked it up to mount and fit. I couldn't pass up the deal so I bought them and mounted one to the false firewall so it could reach..

Thanks for the pics! You do have a < 01.5 intake manifold... but that would mean the wiring harness is also different between the vin split.

I have seen them both ways, if you have the studs on the back of the manifold to install them on then do it that way, it isnt going to matter how they are installed though they will work no matter how you mount them.

So it looks like early manifold they are separated and late manifold they are stacked.
