That guy in the UK (I assume it's the same guy) had a build thread here and detailed it pretty well. Unfortunately I can't remember his username to look it up.

Hi, I have done this swap for the front end. Worth it imo if you like your current car and you are planning on keeping it.

My car is my2008 and had/has bi-xenon headlights.
    Parts I needed:
    - 8K0823029H Bonnet
    - 8K0821105J + 8K0821106J +8K0853823 + 8K0853824 Front wings and rock protector trims
    - 8K0821135H + 8K0821136J + 8K0807283H + 8K0807284H Front wing supports and plastic mounting pieces to the end of the support brackets
    - 8K0805607B + 8K0805608B + 8T0941453D + 8T0941454D Headlight support pieces (2pcs for each light)
    - 2pcs 8K0807333B Headlight support mounting pieces
    - Bumber with grilles and fog lights. Many part numbers depending on version.
    - 8K0807647A Grill for "splitter"
    - 8K0941043B & 8K0941044B Xenon headlights without curve-light function. If swapped from xenon to xenon it is really easy. One change with vcds, the rest is plug'n'play. I would assume that halogen to halogen is an easy swap too.
    - 8K0807081B & 8K0807611B Plastic parts for under & top of the bumber (between bumper and radiator)
    - 8K0821171L + 8K0821172L Inner fenders... Doesnt really need to be changed, there is only one mounting hole in the wrong place. I did not change them, but for 100% correct facelift retrofit you will need them too.

What you would think that has to be changed but are actually the same parts on post-facelift and facelift models.. So these you do not need:
    - Headlight washers
    - Impact bar and supports
    - Any parts that are mounted to bonnet, all are the same exept for the bonnet itself

    Is this the thread?

Stumbled upon it today and had it bookmarked. Would love to do this down the line! Probably makes the most sense to find a wrecked car with all the parts that are needed.

mrw: Headlights are plug and play + vcds.
If you currently have adaptive xenon curve lights the facelift retrofit is not possible.

Hi guys. I have done the 8 to 8.5 on my 2011 Allroad, and have the exact same problems as other people who have done the conversion : When the main beam turns on, the DRL turns off.
Anyone wants to share the coding?

I shared coding on my post if you are still needing the lights to work correctly

I know that this is from a looong time ago but does the radiator support frame/slam panel need to be changed as well?

    many thanks

I assume you mean the lock carrier. Appears there was a separate one for A4 vs S4 up till Jun 6, 2011 (rev J vs rev K), then they all used the same rev L, which is also what the B8.5 used (except the 2.0 TDI starting Sept 30, 2013 started using a rev N). So if you have an L, then it's the same as what the refresh vehicles used. What actually changed between J and L, and is J equally compatible with B8.5? No idea. Feel free to explore:

Were you ever able to figure out the side marker light issues? I did the front end swap, coded the headlight Via VagCom and the side marker lights are the only thing not working.
