Okay, now that it's daylight. I was able to snap a picture of mine.

Seems oil is weeping out of the electrical connection, should I be replacing it? Just got the car, there's no N205 codes present.

EDIT: I take it back. There's a code on here for Camshaft Positioner (000010) - Slow Response.

    Thanks guys

Well there's yer problem! Yeah definitely replace that sucker and clean off all the oil you can from the connector. Had this issue when I first got my b7, for such a small part it isn't cheap but literally takes 2 minutes to swap out.

Oil coming out means it's bad and it needs to be replaced.
What ever makes sense go with the opposite and you got it

Volkwswagen charged me $222 after tax up here in Canada for the N205 valve.

Just got this car. So far so good, except I think the last guy who owned the car for about a year didn't change the oil filter. Using vag-com the last service reset was 40K ago, I have some grungy pictures...

    Look how deformed it is!

It was very brittle and I couldn't pull it off the cylinder, had to cut if out.

Oil was a very dirty. Put fresh 0w40 Castrol in as well as a new filter obviously and I think I'll change it again here shortly just to make sure everything is fine.

For those interested, car is an 07 S-Line Titanium Avant. :)

    Identify this sensor!

@Ori0n : PO probably used a cheap affermarket/jobber filter, they tend to do that. Use oem/mahle/hengst filters you wont have issues.

Let me add more factual information as well as to make sure you do NOT use Mobil 1 or fram filters. Mobil 1 filters ARE FRAM filters for our vehicles. And there have been numerous reports or filters collapsing like yours. As Axis says stick with OEM/Mann filters. Not sure if mahle or hengst is OEM, but I do know for sure Mann is OEM distributor for our filters.

I replaced with an OEM filter. I also checked and the filter pictured above was OEM/Mann. Go figure.

Great to hear you have taken the risk and succeeded! you know where to look if you get an oil pressure warning!
