This is a how to for 2008 B8 S5s that originally had a dipstick with no oil level available in MMI to behave like 2009 and up cars. So this tutorial does not apply to 2009 and up vehicles since they are already equipped with this feature. To perform this upgrade it only requires JHM performance software which has this upgrade included, a 2009 and up oil level sender, MMI reconfiguration with VCDS and MMI reconfiguration with its built in menus.
STEP 1. Flash ECU with JHM proprietary performance tuning which also upgrades the car to use the new style oil level sender and allow MMI to display your oil level. (When flashing your 2008 with our flash software (by the customer or JHM dealer) will auto detect through our server and following the normal process it will upgrade their ECU as part of the ECU performance upgrade. NOTE: The Audi dealer can only flash what the latest software for 2008 cars based on VIN. This is determined by what corporate Audi has assigned to the car based on its original oil level sender the car had. The original 2008 oil level sender (a car originally equipped with a dipstick) does not support viewing the oil level via MMI. So a corporate Audi dealer cannot provide this upgrade since they have no control over what software is put on the car. We at JHM have been running this upgrade on our 2008 in house R and D car since 2013. (Contact us for tuning!)
STEP 2. Install updated 2009 and up oil level sender (need to drain oil out of oil pan to replace so it is most cost effective to do it with an oil change. You can buy it here (we stock them) -> https://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal...s4-p-2657.html
Oil Change Kits: https://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catal...change&x=0&y=0
NOTE: If you don't update the sender you will get an "oil overfilled warning" error on your instrument cluster. It is not going to hurt the car to leave this until you change the oil level sender but the warning may be annoying.
NOTE: These steps are only going to work properly if you have the 2009 and up oil level sender installed and JHM 2008 S5 software.
STEP 3. Enable hidden green menu using VCDS (NOTE: some cars this may be done but it is good to check)
Video here :
STEP 4. Get into the hidden green menu.
Video Here:
STEP 5. Now that you unlocked the hidden menu and you are now in it you need to do the following.
Click on "MMI" once in the hidden menu as per Step 4.

Then click "Diag Settings"

Then click "Car Menus Maske"

Then check the box next to "Olstand"

Then "Accept Changes".

STEP 6. Now that you set it up you NEED to do a full reboot of MMI.
Video Here:
Now you should be able to check your oil with MMI like the 2009 and up cars.

And that is all there is too it!
Let me know if you have any questions and we thank you all for your support!
