    Armor Allroad Reboot! Rebuild what?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
How do you top an already awesome Allroad, you give it a Toothless!(pics coming :P)

Soooooooooo Dropshadow(Sean), a man with a sweet Allroad, suggested that I create a build for the Allroad I purchased in March that was built by Auto Armor and shown here for over a year. So I created this to show how I'm going to make it my own. Put my own sort of twist on it. Some may like, some may not and suggest I should have kept it the way it was. Either way its going to be fun! Not many pictures so far but will increase as I have a ton of plans for it within the next 5 months that will make it pop.

Original build can be found here: 2013 Armor Allroad

    Plans:
    Customize trunk/air system
    Sway Bars/end links
    Q5 3.0T 345mm calipers, 345mm slotted/dimpled rotors
Wrap headliner in black Alacantara, paint/hydro dip/replace headliner pieces(much cheaper than replacing everything)
S4 front seats with alacantara inserts
Replace RS5 emblem on steering wheel
    RS4 petals
    Engine makeover(NEED POWER!!! )
RS4 roof rails(maybe... have to buy new stuff to carry cargo box)
    and more.....

When I picked up the car in Frisco, I was expecting it to have the brushed gold ADV's but it turns out they were matte black. .... Curbed the damn rim at Fishermans Warf the same day too. Stupid curb literally gave way!

From there I found out that it had 2 bent rims, bubbled tires and a busted driverside suspension. Pacific German helped me out and fixed the problems. After that I bought a second set of rims for my winter setup. Bought roof rails from Audi and a Thule box that pepboys had one hell of a deal on.

I hate black rims unless somehow, if ever, its pulled off right. Can't see the lines of the wheels. Blends too well with the tire. So I tried selling my ADV's in hopes to get BC Forged. No bites... To do something to show off the ADV rims(which they should be) but not going too far and keeping it subtle, blending in with the car. I took them and got them redone along with the front and back Audi rings to tie the rims into the car. Kinda came out a bit pinkish but wasn't too bad.

    Before:

    After:

From there I decided to paint my calipers for the time being until I upgraded to the Q5 3.0T 345mm calipers. Took Diamonddogs suggestion and went with Brakeperformance's slottle/dimpled, zinc coated rotors front and rear, stainless steel lines(front) and EBC red stuff. Painted them silver just for kicks until I figure out a good color that doesn't kill the rest of the car.

    Painting:

    As of 6/12/15:

Sean is a cool cat and his car is amazing! For the record, I love this car the way it was, and I love it in a different way with the red wheels!! You may have picked up something that appeared perfect to some, but there is alway a new spin on perfection, especially under the hood of a US avant. Looking at your car, and your list, we have a lot of things in common. I for one can't wait to see what you do. Subscribed!

So much recent allroad activity on audizine, which is awesome, and each project is different.

Glad you started this thread, and I'm looking forward to where you take this car. I forgot you were the one that posted the awesome Pep Boys roof box deal that I also took advantage of, so thanks for that!

I want to do the same thing with Alcantra headliner. When I saw the insanely expensive A8 at dealer, I was so impressed with that alcantra headliner. The sales rep said you can order from some place in Florida that sells by the square foot. It is very difficult to find legit places that sell it.

Do you have any other pics of your 2nd wheel set? I really like that look. Hartmann has the (S7?) knock-off but they are sold-out. Was thinking about the gunmetal gray rotor wheels but everyone has those.

Hmm Thanks for the heads up on the alcantara. I will have to do some research on it to get ahead on the build. As for the rims, I saw them on the RS6 Avant so I bought these as my winter set. Problem is I'm slowly working on getting them wrapped with Continental DW's. I just got the 20mm spacers so I can mount these but thats about it so far. When I get them wrapped I will show ya.

Ha! Awesome. I wish there was more of an allroad scene here, but as far as I'm aware, I might be the only one in the city with a lowered allroad. You guys in CA are lucky. If I lived in a climate that bags would tolerate, I'd do it, but I don't know how they'd fare in a Minnesota winter.

I would love to, but that's a hell of a long drive. You guys should all come out to Camp allroad in July. That's about halfway, right?

Nice, I do think those RS6 wheels would look better as just a single color dark gunmetal gray or gloss black. Might just get the Hartmann knock-offs which do not require spacers in the 19's.

It's going to be tough to find alcantara materials and shop that can do the labor. Just love those alcantara headliners in the $100K+ Audi's. The higher-end models also have some type plush padding on the headliner wrapped with Alcantara. Maybe West Coast Customs can make that for you? Not sure what they charge, might be crazy expensive with those guys.

I was actually thinking of getting the machined portion painted the same color as my summer rims to keep the audi rings in play. Not sure yet though. The 20" have a et of 35 and with the allroad and their freaking crazy offset, makes all premade aftermarket rims a pain to install.

WCC is pretty expensive. There are a few places around the SoCal area that have worked with the alcantara before for some guys on the forums. I just have to figure out where to get the cloth without breaking the bank.

Will take pictures of the progress. I am going to go professionally installed instead of trying to do this myself. I was thinking of trading for the B8 Avant alcantara seats but I doubt someone would do a straight trade which puts me in a bind of making my own. Might have to purchase another yard.

Hmm, didn't know you could put the RS5 sways on the Allroad. The Eurocode ones are thicker no? I was going to buy the Hotchkis off someone selling them in the local classifieds, and I still don't know why I don't do it cause its cheaper but Eurocode took my money. I just have to wait until they have them in stock again to install them.

Btw, yours will supersede ours soon. Knowing you and seeing your past projects I might as well just sit in the corner lol.

Eh, I like yours a lot. And if you want to go by popularity, do a search on cars n coffee audi or allroad. Yours is all over the place and mine isn't there :(. lol. Alex has been doing searches looking at the cars from the shows and kept seeing yours everywhere!

^Thanks dude but this allroads my DD, I have to resist and not get crazy but certain I will do and knowing me too, I'm going to start ripping shit up sometime in the hear future but all my focus is on my B5 for now. Minus a brake upgrade & sway bars since the car really needs it.

The B5 underwent a 3L build and yesterday we tried to start the car up and noticed oil pressure was low due to the engine girdle, which means the motor has to come back out and dissassembled to figure out where the pinch is happening. Trying to get her ready for SCE, you guys going this year?

So busy I never get to keep up with this thing.... I actually forgot I made one haha. Will see if I can find some more pictures.

Ended up adding Eurocode sway bars front/rear with endlinks front/rear. This makes one hell of a difference with the air system. Not sure why they were never on before it.

Rebuilt engine with forged heads, carbon cleaning, new injectors.

Went GIAC Stg 2 E85/91. The E85 is soo much quicker and more fuel efficient.

ADV1 wheels being repainted as I speak wrapped in brand new Toyo T1Rs 275/30/20. Going to get them Ceramic Pro coated once they dry. Hopefully that will take care of the brake dust.

Just got new Toyo Extrema 255/35/20 on my RS6 reps.

Just bought new bushings and inserts for the front suspension. Going to get the alignment done once I install those.

I swear I have done more these last 6 months but I just can't think of it.
