While you're at it, you can also set the rear tailight light pipes to stay on as DRLs.

If anyone knows how to set the gear display in the center of the dash, post it here. It is not the same as on the B8's.

How about removing all the messages you get when using the MMI while driving? DVD in motion?

#3 is the first coding I posted.
Used to be so simple with couple clicks in central electric on the B8 platform in Vagcom.
Anyway, you need to goto 3 places per side on the 8V platform in vagcom.

I think those would be mutually exclusive........ LMAO

My suggestions (and I am hoping to start playing around in VCDS this weekend so I will post back what I find)

    • Turn off seatbelt chime
    • Close/Open windows with FOB
    • Close sunroof with FOB
    • Brake lights flash on stop
    • Hazards activate on hard stop

The following links have most, if not all of the answers.

    http://vcds.greg-roberts.com/view-entries

    http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=260248.0

They are for the Golf/GTI Mk.VII but largely applicable to A3/S3 too.

Alternatively, you can set the DRL to dim, rather than turn off completely, when you use your signals or hazards.

    http://vcds.greg-roberts.com/view-entries/details/1/9

This looks better than either winking or maintaining full DRL brightness.

I really hate the winking. it's pointless on the Bi-Xenons the DRLs are completely separate from the Amber turn signal, there's no way to confuse that someone has their turn signal on.

Audi should have added this as MMI Settings configuration.

I almost don't get how the LED headlights got the green to double as the turn signal when I think the turn signal can easily be overlooked in this instance, versus the signal being in a separate lamp.

Come to think of it, it may not have been a setting in the mmi, but there was a tutorial I played that walked me thru it. I recall now going thru setting the passenger mirror to my liking and somehow saving it.

Do you have the tutorial videos in your mmi? Choose the one detailing the mirror dip on reverse.

I have an A3 without NAV, and this was how I set the right wing mirror dipped position:

    1. Turn mirror adjust knob to right wing mirror (i.e., pointing to the top right).

    2. Put transmission in R and back up a bit, then brake to a halt while keeping transmission in reverse.

    3. Use the aforementioned knob to adjust the mirror to the desired dipped position; I have mine a bit closer and much lower.

    4. Put transmission in D and drive forward slowly until mirror returns to regular position.

Please note that right wing mirror only dips on reverse while the knob is turned to the right wing mirror position.

Basically, the right wing mirror remembers two positions: one regular, and the other when the car is in R and the knob is turned to the right wing mirror position.

The $350 one you are referring to is the HEX-USB+CAN interface which will let you work on most VW/Audi's from 1995 on. The Micro-CAN interface loses some support and can only work with most VW/some Audi from 2005 on. (Compatibility list for Micro-CAN)

Sorry, when I said it loses some support, I meant support of other vehicles. The Micro-CAN is limited to those vehicles listed in the compatibility list.

For a tablet you will have to get the new VCDS Mobile which frankly looks pretty awesome and I'm thinking of selling my Micro to buy that later this year. lol Especially since the Micro-CAN doesn't support the S4.

For the normal cable version you need a PC with Windows (I use a Linux laptop with Win7 running in a virtual machine and works fine).

With a USB interface: We recommend at least a 1 GHz Pentium-III (or AMD equivalent) with 256 MB of RAM and Windows XP or newer. With Windows Vista, 7, or 8 use a machine robust enough to properly support the operating system.

VCDS may work on some lesser PCs, but machines with specs lower than the above recommendations are "unsupported" meaning if it doesn't work, please don't ask us for help.

A cheap way is to use the carista app and bluetooth dongle. But right now S3/A3 modifications are not yet supported. Only scanning for errors.
Once the modifications are supported, there will be less need to mess with the actual vagcom coding.

Does anyone have the code for adjusting the LED headlights to aim higher after lowering?

    European taillight coding or adaptations...

    Seems mysterious so far.

Basically, the right wing mirror remembers two positions: one regular, and the other when the car is in R and the knob is turned to the right wing mirror position.
did this process roughly 100 times and cant get it to work.

Mirror dip only works from factory if you have the Convenience Package. I enabled mirror dip via VCDS and it now works for me.
