AWEroad: An AWE Tuning Daily Driver

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So one of our daily driver cars here at AWE Tuning is a 2014 Allroad. But it was sitting a little high for our liking. We wanted performance along with our lowering, and for the money, coilovers would be the best bet. But none fit. Until now. We just officially confirmed fitment of the Bilstein B16 PSS10 Coilovers.

And in case you're in doubt, these are the exact same coilovers that were on our in-house B8 A4 from 2011. These coilovers take a licking and keep on ticking. Track use and all.

    Questions? Hit us here.

Does this mean that the RideControl version will work on the Allroad as well? That is what I'd be looking for for mine.

I have heard that it will, though we have not been able to confirm nor deny this claim.

Thread here seems to say that they do work. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ck-build/page3

Eventually, but it won't be a "build" thread because audizine gets pretty butthurt if you use that word and your car isn't hand built and making 9,000hp. Not much more I'll be doing to it until spring, but I do have plans for it.

Hey guys, as the "primary" driver of this (kid seats in the back and all) I have to say that the PSS10s are phenomenal on this and even at this height, rub less on corners than the A4 ever did. The handling is so much better now and the ride is firm but not jarring. I have them set at 8 on all corners. Questions, we're here. Shout out to Bilstein for working by our sides to confirm fitment, good to have such great partners. Oh, they're 10% off right now. Sorry, gratuitous plug.

Hey! Car got somewhat back burnered due to aggressive growth on other projects (entrance into Mini, Mercedes and BMW since I think we posted this, not to mention a new HQ!) but it's still my daily driver and graciously carries my bikes and kids around! The brand of spacers is H&R.

Out of curiosity what other modifications did you make to your allroad daily driver? I am looking to trade in my 2013 S5 for a car with a bit more room.

Still the same. We're actually looking to swap it out for something that can get the kids to baseball practice a lot faster

So you just Bilstein coilovers and spacers? Looks good. I know what you mean about wanting to get places a lot faster. That is my problem with the AR unless I am going to tune it. Based on my review of all the usual car sale sites, 95% of the ARs within 75 miles of NYC are CPO. Why pay for a warranty if the tune is going to more than likely void it? Don't even think about the sports package because the only one I found is a 2014 with 45K miles and 2 owners for $30K at a dealer. How many miles on yours and will the kids fit in an S5?

Thanks dropshadow. I appreciate the link to your thread. Very nice. I've been having difficulty finding what I want, a daily driver that is fun to drive, can accommodate 2 adults at least one golden retriever maybe 2 and a bunch of sailing gear. Based on my review of all the usual car sale sites, 95% of the ARs within 75 miles of NYC are CPO. Why pay for a warranty if the tune is going to more than likely void it? Sports package is even rarer, I found one 2014 in lava red with 45K miles and 2 owners for $30K at a dealer.

That's exactly why I talked my dealer out of certifying my blue allroad before I bought it. I knew I was going to tune it and void whatever warranty was left anyway, and didn't want to pay extra for a CPO car. Certification costs the dealer money too, and they usually pass that cost onto the customer, and raise the price of the car because it's certified. I was able to talk my dealer into not certifying the car, and selling it to me at a price closer to what I was looking to pay, so it worked out for both of us. I got lucky though, because my car hadn't gone through the certification process yet. Most times when you see a car that is already marked CPO, it has already gone through the process.

In your situation, I would make friends with a local salesman and tell him to keep his eye on the market for the car you want, and if he finds it, to work with you on getting it, but without certification. Or, I'd just do what you're already doing and keep looking online. I was searching autotrader multiple times a day until my car popped up, it just takes time and persistence. I was also looking nationwide, and found my car in Pennsylvania.

Sport interior cars are somewhat rare, but not impossible to find. If you find a car that checks all your other boxes, you can always upgrade to sport or S4/S5 seats later, and add a FBSW down the road too. Anyway, if you want to continue this conversation, let's move it to the allroad megathread and stop cluttering up AWE's thread.
