Car wont start after battery change? Tune related

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My car was rear ended several weeks ago and the shop is changing my battery with a new one, their claiming the car wont start now with the new battery. Lights/radio/etc everything works just the car wont start.

Could this have anything to do with me having a tune?

They are having a a specialist" come check it out today, I just thought I'd ask my fellow audi friends.

If i recall correctly, our batteries have to be coded to the vehicle by Audi or using a VAG com cable.

Wonder if it has to do with the pyrotechnic circuit breaker on the battery, since you were rear ended. See this thread:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...t=battery+fuse

Also note the comments in this thread from another guy who was rear-ended:

    http://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b...ident-2727091/

In the second paragraph, he states: "According to the Audi dealer service tech, there's a supplemental system that's linked to the car's SRS (airbag) system that is triggered when the car detects a significant impact. In my case, the airbags didn't deploy but the impact was enough to trigger this supplemental system. This system he said is essentially a pyrotechnic/firecracker type device that explodes and cuts the hard line that provides power to the engine. The battery still powers accessories, nav, lighting, etc but things like the ebrake (now it makes sense), the engine, brakes, steering are cutoff from power!"

When I was rear ended car wouldn't start. Everything else worked radio lights etc etc. When I would try to start the car it would give a parking brake malfunction error every time. I will forward this info over to the shop.

Here's the part (8J0915459) that ECS carries. At $193 you may want to look around to see if you can get it for less. Have the shop verify the part number on yours first.

Should be able to quickly do a continuity test on the breaker with a multimeter to see if current is able to pass through.

Well thanks for the tips guys, I'll forward this info over to the shop. Although I feel this is something they should have known already. First thing their going to do is have their guy reprogram the new battery with my car, their thinking that's why it's not turning on.
