    Inside Your Fuel Filter.

I finally got around to changing my fuel filter (8k0 201 511 A). BE CAREFUL removing the retaining ring on the fuel pump cover!!! One slip and you're buying a whole new pump! Plastic nipples do NOT resist to sharp impacts. Anyway, here is what your B8 filter is all about .Why is it so expensive? Maybe 'cause it's pink on the inside... ($120 CDN for an aftermarket? no thanks! Europaparts savings will pay for shipping on that alone, almost.)

Exploded unit: Casing, filter element, inlet cover with pressure release valve and grounding shield

Do I need to recommend changing it once in a while?

Btw, I fill up with Premium ALL the time. That crap in my tank DOES NOT smell like premium! It smells like the stuff I throw in the mower. I'll be looking into that.

No sé mang! Car has 146000km so I would like to think it was changed a few times! There were a few markings on the cover that would indicate it was done at least once.

Is there no DIY for this? If not, I'll make one with pictures when I get the new pump...

****DO NOT ATTEMPT ABOVE 1/4 TANK****
****Remove Fuel Pump Fuse or disconnect battery.***

Remove back seat clips and covers.
Pull bench seat up ( and break clips!)
Remove crumbs, coins, dead bugs, etc.
Remove 3 screws holding tri-oval shaped cover on passenger side. (Some are glued, mine had a gasket)
    Unplug electrical connectors.
Clean area and unhook fuel line, have a rag ready, fuel will be ejected. (Mine was a single line) <--- SQUEEZE the retaining clip at the base of the fuel line connection and pull UP to remove!
CAREFULLY use the proper tool or make one or use 2 long screw drivers against each other to unscrew the pump retaining ring. (Factory ratchet tabs will bend or break. Disregard and proceed)
Lift the pump mechanism and let drain.
Some tilting of the unit is required to get it out. Watch for the ribbed fuel supply line, the grounding wire and the float mechanism. They are very obvious.
Unhook the fuel line at the base <---FUEL WILL DRAIN, BE READY.
Unhook the ground wire from filter by depressing the very small tab.
Insert the 3 supplied white plastic release tabs against the filter body and pull it out (the filter), again very obvious as to how to do this when you are working on it.
Renew the seal and push in the new filter until it clicks. It can only go in one way, look for the tab on the body.
Providing nothing is busted, assembly is reverse of disassembly.

^ Yup, that's where I got it. Real deal at a great price.

Got some RED coilpacks and the latest pressure sensor along with it and saved a ton even after duties and shipping.

Came with the o-ring seal and three plastic tabs to remove the filter. No big union nut.

That's not bad considering the work involved and the fact they will likely need to replace broken seat grommets!

I'd be curious to see the "flush" part... it's probably the line draining itself when unhooked! HA!!

Just did this over the weekend. Overall it was pretty straight forward. Anyone have pics of how the actual seal sits? Mine was just filling the void between the base & cap. I did not have to stretch it around anything if that makes sense. Also anyone know how to remove the old seat clips? I couldnt get them off the seat.
