After joining the TD1 club, I decided it was time to jump ship on my Q5. Enjoyed every minute of it, put a lot of love into it, but the timing was right and it was time to part ways. I evaluated many options, and I leaned most toward a 2014 A4 S-Line, as I was hoping to get into something a bit smaller and more fuel efficient on the highway commute. Thought about all the mods I'd want to do, but then realized that most everything I would want to do would be to get an A4 closer to the feel that the S4 already accomplishes. Sure enough, there sat a beautiful S4 in the showroom that I couldn't get out of my mind. I was initially leery about the automatic - but after taking a test drive with the DSG, I was a believer. Considered the price difference, and hoped for the "let's move the old to make way for the new" discounts but as they didn't have the right A4 on the lot I would have had to order new for September. Eventually pulled the trigger on the S4 which my dealer moved mountains to get out the door, ended up being about the same amount as a similarly loaded A4 after loyalty and trade in, et cetera, albeit without the key parts to make it an "S".
Well let's get to it.
It's a 2013 S4 Premium DSG with Sport Diff, Estoril Blue Crystal on Silver/Black Nappa Leather. Came with just about every option (Nav, parking camera, peelers) since it was a Premium, and it was delivered with 35% Ceramic Tint and a 3M clearbra on the hood and fenders. Loving every minute of it, coming from a 2.0T Q5 with Stage 1, and before that a Jeep GC with 3.0 Diesel (and before that a B7 A4 2.0T), I've never driven anything like it. The smoothness of the DSG, the purr of the V6, the power of the supercharger (but most of you reading this already know all this). Favourite thing so far is that DSG fart, I laugh maniacally whenever I hear it. The new MMI is a tremendous improvement over the old, and the bluetooth music streaming is an awesome new feature.
I look forward to being a part of the S4 family, and seeing where everyone goes with their rides. No major plans right now, as I'm still getting to know the car, but I will be taking it in shortly to have a film put on the headlights and wrap the side blades for the alu-optic look. Considering springs, catback, intake, fogs, reverse lights, alu kreuz, sway bars, but after TD1ing my Q5 I'm going to make sure all my decisions are much more informed before pulling the trigger.
PM me anytime if you've got any questions or need a helping hand with anything. I know a lot of you are in my area (toronto), and I look forward to seeing you all at upcoming meets!
Best,
Alex
