Wow - never thought I'd see that the RS4 fenders weren't wide enough!

Definitely different and bad ass, personal opinion (doesn't matter not my car) is it looks out of proportion now. Props on the work though looks like it was done right.

You are right in that that lateral view of the fender profile is a little different. In order to maintain the same slope of the fender so that the whole fender did not have to be rebuilt, it ends up that the peak of the wheel opening is 1/2" lower than stock but the front and back of the opening feather out to stock height.

They are Hoosier A6's. Basically they are slicks that are DOT approved because of a thin rain groove.

Looks to be, check out the autocross pic thread, they have an angle to them, seem to slope out a bit more than stock.

This is a daily driver. Here are a couple of pics with the stock wheels on 30 mm adaptors. I would prefer 40 mm but have not been able to find them.

The Mustangs, Cameros and Chargers are usually running 315's and you don't want to get beat by American muscle if you can help it.

    Awesome project!

I would love to see this in person. It looks absolutely amazing from some angles, but not quite right from others. Photos do that sort of stuff though. Have you ever thought about doing something different/custom with the front bumper? it looks like you widened the whole rear bumper but left the front alone?

How does the steering feel with such a wide tire up front? Just seems like wayyy too much tire up front.

Actually it does not really feel any different. My street tires on stock rims are 275/35 R 19 will tram a little any way if the road is rutted. However, on the track you never notice it. Keeping wide tires on the front helps with the understeer. I usually have to replace annually some of the ends on the 034 upper adjustable control arms because of clunking caused by increased wear. I even bent a couple.

love the widebody, hate the chromed autox wheels

you should get them powder coated white or orange - something that will pop against the Daytona Gray without being chrome..

They are just aluminum on the spokes and polished on the rim. They were the cheapest for racing. I still use my stock rims on the street with 30 mm adaptors.

Oh ok, well they shine enough to be chrome. :)

Is this setup purely for autocross or do you do HPDE / track days as well?

It's a nose-heavy car with driven front wheels, it needs all the front tire it can get. As long as the geometry is still good his car will corner way faster than a car with the same tires but in stock size.

The new Z28 Camaro is the fastest one ever on tracks and it comes with 305 tires all around on a lighter chassis. Hell a lot of S2000 guys use a 275 square setup and their car weighs 1000 lbs less and has way less power. An RS4 (or S4 even) can definitely make use of a 315 setup.

^ For a point of comparison in another AWD car, I run 275 Hoosier A6's on my '05 STi at Autocross. That car weighs about 700 lbs less than the RS4. (Running 400/400 awHP/awTQ can actually spin all 4 tires. LOL)

From a wind resistance point of view, I think the ideal thing would be to put a whole, wider racing bumper on. However, in my autocross class I can only put on fender flares. It would be too tacky to bolt on fiberglass ones so hence the mods. The front bumper was not been changed. The rear bumper was pushed out a little where the bumper meets the wheel opening.
