    B8.5 Fog Xeonmatch DIY/Pics

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know a few guys have put similar posts recently. Here is a quick breakdown of what to do for the B8.5 (slightly different than the B8 as mentioned by others so I have pics to show)

I used this site for the main instructions: http://www.audienthusiasts.com/Proje...vinglight.html

This is incredibly easy. It's simply plug and play with the bulbs once you unscrew the 2 T25 Torx screws.

The difference for the B8.5 is that you need to unclip the wires from the bulb FIRST before you twist it 45° CCW to take it out (see yellow boxes in pic below).

    Hoen Xeonmatch H8 Bulbs

Tools (Note the Stock white bulb and blue-ish Xeonmatch bulb)

Unscrew the 2 screws in the wheel well

Unhook the cable from the bulb (yellow)
Then unscrew and remove the bulb (red)

I only had my iPhone for pics, but you can kinda see the difference in the pics below. I guess it didn't help that it was the middle of the day!

Nice little write-up. Even though the pics aren't great you can tell that the xenon match are muuuuuch better. I went with the Hoen Endurance yellow ones:http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...mparison-PICS!

I can happily combine the photos I took as additional showcasing of how well these match.

I also just took pics of the LED conversion ones, which unfortunately, get SO DAMN HOT I burned the hell outta myself in the time it took to take the pics! Maybe an entire comparison thread.

This is one of the things I plan to do but you always wonder if there really is much of a difference. Nice to see the different bulbs burning side by side for comparison. Definite difference in color temp.

I put the xenon match Hoens on my car. I feel that they are "almost"xenon match. I know, I know, its impossible to match the Audi DRLs or headlights...but it seems that the Hoens fall just between those two colors. I guess its close enough. Much better than the halogens imo.

Did you unscrew the larger attachment to the right in the pic? Just tried doing this today but couldn't get good access with the Torx screws removed only.

I'm torn between the xenonmatch and the "yellow Endurance" fogs!! My car is all black with the silver accents and I'm just not sure!! What do you guys think about the yellow with a black car? I am definitely leaning towards the yellow Endurance bulbs!! THanks

Thanks! That was part of my reasoning for wanting the yellows!! But I really do like the look, I just don't want it to look out of place on a black car. But I don't think it will!! Thanks for the input!!!

the harness is clipped into the bulb. you have to press onto the tab, wiggle it out and slide it down to "unhook" the clip.

i also noticed, if you think your arms or hands are too big to reach in from behind the liner, what i did was pulled the front fog grille covers and unscrewed the fog housing from the front of the car. that way, you have a lot more room to change everything out

Gotcha - so you press on the middle tab and wiggle downward? I figured that was it but was nervous to break or snap something. I think I can get in there, although it's a bit awkward while laying on the ground. Will give it another shot tonight. Thanks!

Do you have to code anything with these bulbs?

After removing the screw, I couldn't get past the flap...had to stick my hand in there and install it blindly. Maybe I was doing something wrong...

Thanks OP; a good and cost effective mod.

CaptSlow - did you remove 2 screws - takes a little effort to bend back the flap.

I removed both, but didn't put any stress on removing the flap. It seemed like it would brake, so I just installed by feeling the prongs
