Launch Control finally makes it's way into Owners Manual.

Got a shipment of supplemental page today at the store. The launch control has thus far been a 'secret' feature never mentioned in the manual. Now it's there..........or it's at least on a seperate page we are supposed to add to the packet of manuals.

Not huge news, but I thought it was a little interesting. Picture of the page below:

Thanks for sharing! Any mention of model years that were to get that supplement (i.e., 2011+)?

LOL @ the warning "and other drivers will not be endangered or annoyed by your driving and the vehicles acceleration".

LOL, do it enough times, break something and then see if AoA covers it under warranty (considering recent news)?

Yeah doesn't the computer record how many times you use Launch Control?

It doesn't matter. It is in the owners manual as a function of the car and it was built and designed by Audi. The control that they have in place is the Transmission temperature. So as long as it lets you engage it, you should be able to use it to your heart's content and still be covered under warranty.

Yeah exactly what I'm getting at - but as dgszweda says - the fact it is in the owner's manual helps our cause.

I had launched the car about 6 times before it did 100miles, that was the break-in period.

There is definitely a launch counter in the transmission module. I found it on the old version of VCDS, not sure on the numbers for the new one.

The bulletin just made a note to insert the supplemental page into the packets of in-stock S4, so I don't know if they intended it to go into 2011 model year books as well.

I believe most people's plan previous to this if ever engaged by a service department due to launch control issues was "what is launch control, I don't see anything about it in my owner's manual?"

Now of course it seems you could say......."oh yes, launch control. My owner's manual mentioned that it could raise transmission temperature, but in the event that it did, launch control wouldn't function until it was again safe to do so."

Of course, they do still mention it could cause 'excessive wear.' Wear though, isn't the same as breakage.

The letter that came with it says in the subject header "Model Year 2011-2012 Audi S4 and S5 Owner's Manual". So I'm thinking it's also intended for 2011 model year as well.

Got the letter and the supplement page for my 2011 yesterday. So yeah it's definitely intended for 2011 too.
