EuroCode full USS setup first impressions

…gathered over the past few hours hunting down every roundabout in the region

My car is a non-ADS model, so for reference (having ridden in ADS cars) the stock setup on a non-ADS car would feel about halfway between the softer and firmer setting on an ADS-equipped machine.

When I put on the Alu-Kreuz Drivetrain Stabilizer last fall, I found two things striking: the first being that the OEM DTS looked like something engineered for a 1981 Trabant when seen beside the work of art that is the AK, and the second being that I felt as though the sharply improved steering feel was crisper and overall a seemingly bigger improvement than described by others in early reviews on it. I chalked it up to either myself having less faith than I should have when I bought the AK and being pleasantly surprised after throwing it on, or the difference being simply that I have a non-ADS car when all the other reviews were on ADS rigs. Regardless, very impressive mod, very happy driver.

Today’s installation of the full EuroCode USS setup has just substantially widened the grin. Around town the factory dampening feel remains virtually intact with all the usual comforts of the OEM shocks. There is although a dramatic improvement in tactile road-feel, in that you feel almost every crack and crevice through the steering wheel in a very good way. Despite this, going through wide albeit shallower 1” to 2” deep potholes and over curbs was surprisingly comfortable and practically identical to the OEM dampening feel. And yeah, I tried not to look at the OEM parts when they were handed to me, the end-links in particular. Audi – what were you thinking?

Now getting out into the countryside and driving somewhat spiritedly, it became apparent that EuroCode has again changed the game for the S4. The lack of body-roll is nothing short of incredible now while going through the corners. The car feels completely planted, the road-feel is infinitely better, and one has a much more confident feeling in both hastily entering in to and powering out of corners. I didn’t go harder than say 6/10ths today due to lots of rain and greasy roads, but I can’t wait to get the car out in the dry, let alone the track.

My only regret is not having the foresight to take a camera out yesterday to get some “before” body-roll images of the car in a corner to compare to shots I could have taken today. I’d be really interested to see visually just how much flatter the car is during cornering.

I did manage to take this as soon as I got home though

Many thanks to EuroCode for the quality engineering and the stellar customer service, and to David @ Eurocode for advice on the optimal setup!

Ditto about the early AK reviews. It's so much better in person than I was ever expecting.

    Can't wait for my ÜSS!

Nice writeup. Did you set the front sways to soft and the rear to stiff, as others have done? My setup arrived today and I can't wait to get it all installed.

Yes, that and the alignment with front camber/toe reset to stock settings, and rear toe set to 0. No alarms went off :-)
