OP, good job on the wheels.

Quick question on the lugs, did you pull the caps off the lugs before trying the wrench?

haha, through the spokes...i barely squeezed it in there so the rotors dont get ruined

For the emblems i just tape a square around it with the blue painters tape, then i put newspaper to block off surrounding parts....and i spray 3/4 coats, when it drys u can just take a toothpick and peel the middle parts, and the surrounding..peeling is the best part

we do not have lug nuts on our cars, we use lug bolts, and yes take the caps off first. in the tool kit in the trunk, there is a little black tool looks like a big oblong "U" that pulls the caps off of the bolts.

Amazing how many people butcher there cars with plastidip. Sorry it may look good, but I honestly doubt that will last and not look bad with all the road debris, dirt and grime that will hit the wheel. I think it's kind of ghetto...To each their own though. Just my opinion.

The plasti dip is 100% removable therefore nothing is butchered, I have used it as a cheap way to change the look of my car on many different vehicles. My current wheels have been plasti dipped for over 6 months now and they still look "good".

My only complaint is that I used the original plasti dip in flat black, it looks kinda crappy against the deep "wet" look of the black paint on my car. But this will hold me over until I can get black RS4 reps

If you maintain cleaning it and taking good care of it, it looks good and fresh for months and months..i had plasti dip on my B5's emblems for a year and it still looked like new...nonetheless, i only did my wheels with plasti dip just to see how they look in black and in person..because my original plan is to powder coat..id much rather spend $30 on plasti dip, and see how they look (if i like it or not) than pay $500 on powder coating and ending up hating it...

Yup, same with me, i want to either powder coat or just get new wheels...but im going to wait a couple months for my thread to finish so i just buy a package of wheels and tires, and another complaint i have is when the can is about to finish it starts to spray out bubbly and it ruins the whole job..

Not realizing the bolts have caps, fail. Plasti-dip on wheels at all is retarded enough but doing it WHILE they are on the car?!?! Dude what are you thinking. Your parents need to sell that car and get you a Honda.

I kinda bought the car a couple months ago, & im thinking that i want to see how BLACK looks on these wheels for the 10th time. theres a reason its plati dip, it comes off...if it touches anything it comes off. Plus, there was a towel around the rotor and calipers/brakes/etc. what HARM can plasti dip do? none.

^i did the front grill surrounds on my b6, and even that ish needs a touch up (or a complete re-covering) every few months. pretty much a high maintenance pita now.

When it comes to plasti dip, and im sure many other spray paint jobs..it matters How, Who, Where, And When to do it...
plasti dip isnt straight up paint but when u spray the surface ur spraying it cant be even a little dirty..
i did my B5's emblems, front grille, & bottom fog light grille..i had it on for atleast more than 4/5 months (before i sold it) and i had no problems
some people just spray 3 coats in one and then complain how it looks bubbly or shitty...

Anywho, now i know how my car looks like with these wheels in black (still disappointed these arent 19's and my CF BBS Caps dont fit) but i really like these wheels and would much rather spend money on a drop other than new wheels..

Not really sure if I like the Black on Dolphin Gray... just not a good color combo imo. Chrome is a bit more classy and easier on the eyes.

Not really sure if I like the Black on Dolphin Gray... just not a good color combo imo. Chrome is a bit more classy and easier on the eyes.
Chrome?! Not sure if serious or trolling.

On topic: Wow, so many haters. I haven't dipped anything on my car, but I will be using it for the valence whenever I get around to swapping exhausts and adding B7 tips to my B6. But holy sh*t, SO many people going for the jugular over a 6$ can of spray. OP stated it was merely for testing anyway...and even if it wasn't, its personal preference, no?

Personally, I think silver/gray looks awesome with black wheels/trim. Looks good OP, def an awesome and cheap way to (reversibly!!!) change the look of your vehicle drastically

Started on mine today, i think it's a cool simple nonpermanent mod that can make your car a little unique.
