Coolant light beeping at me, wondering why...

Recently if I'm idling when the car is up to operating temperature the low coolant light pops up on the display and beeps 3 times at me. If i start driving it will shut off after about a minute. The coolant is at the perfect level. The book says it could also mean over heating but the coolant temp gauge stays perfectly at the mid-point.

Vagcom confirmed the car isn't overheating and there are not other codes. The coolant res and coolant temp sensor are less then a year old.

Does the coolant light on the lcd display have any other significance beside low coolant or overheating??

Yup...you can just wirenut the two wires together to get it to shutup until you can fix it properly.

The wire on mine was broken off and triggering the light.

I think a lot of people just push the reservoir aside when doing work on the engine and this fatigues the wires. That is how I got my car and I wire nutted it on...been fine since.

I did have to fix my wire a year or so back, I'll have to check it over again. The weird thing is it only happens when I'm idling in a parking lot or stop light once the car is at operating temp.... I could drive for hours on the highway with it not going off, but the second I pull off the highway for gas and the car is idling it will instantly come on.

It only shows for a little while.....Which is no read on coolant level due to the wires...
