help coding 2001 b5 a4 ecu (have tried every writeup on it)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i have a ch box ecu for my 1.8t and the car runs fine with eurodyne meastro. but i cant code the ecu from the current soft coding of 07500. its obviously coded as a vw front wheel drive 1.8t......i need it coded to a b5 a4 quattro and it wont let me do it....

could i need an immobilizer defeat to make it work.....the only digit that will change is the 5 to a 4 and back again thats it!

i have a registered vagcom and am hoping i dont need a different ecu. car runs great otherwise. any help would be awesome

You should be able to do it with Vagcom, we dont have immobilizers.

B5s sold in the US did not come with immobilisers. Not sure on the VW platform.

just realized ch box ecus are only a4 b5.......but anyways yea i figured we didnt have immobilizers......but vagcom wont let me change coding except the middle number.....shouldnt a b5 a4 non auto be like 16201 or 06201 or something.....why is mine 07500

what code are you trying to change and why? if it runs fine why mess with it? i didnt have to change anything on mine for maestro, and if its a manual transmission ecu, then it should be fine

You sure the last numbers before it reads CH is 018? I can check my Vag Com tommorow for the soft coding, if you can wait.

its just that my speed is off a lil and i dont know if its because the ecu is coded for a 5 speed instead of a 6 speed......i have the 1.8t swapped into an s4 i bought without a motor for dirt cheap........and also i think my abs communication code is also maybe part of the softcoding

the transmission doesnt have anything to do with your speed being off, the size of your wheels/tires does

your sure.....because the speed sensor is on the transmission and sends info to the ecu.....are u implying that the 6 speed has the same sensor as the 5 speed and has the same signal and gear speed as the 5 speed? cause thats the signal going to the speedometer

and come on man.....i know the wheel and tires affect speed.....im asking about coding and why it wont work. not the factors on my speed being off. wheels and tires are stock anyways.

Yes, the 5-speed and 6-speed use the same exact speed sensor. And the measured speed is coming from front diff ring. Nothing to do with the internal gears - it has to do with road speed and tire size.

thanks alot thats what i wanted to know......guess ill just leave the coding and deal with the missing message from abs code which doesnt affect anything anyways....

    From what, to what?

You'll need to give more details - model and year of your car, auto or manual, FWD or Quattro. Small details, big difference.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the AEB computers cannot be recoded like this. You have to either change the computer, or reflash the EEPROM with a manual file.

EDIT: I think I'm wrong on this. Recode should be possible for at least some of the AEB ECU's. However, if the ECU is chipped, sometimes recode ability is locked out.
