Who else got the warranty extension for the PCV and flapper?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
just got it in the mail sometime over break when I wasnt here.

Did anyone else get it? And should I break my PCV on purpose to get a new one for free?! lol I was honestly just going to gut it and possibly go home made CC anyways.

and what is the intake flapper anyways?

Many have received the notification on the warranty extension including myself... that discussion kinda got brought into the cam follower discussion here:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-reimbursement

As to what that part does, google 821503.pdf. It's a PDF that talks about the technical stuff on the 2.0T. It's oriented for transverse use but it's more or less the same.

I am going into the dealership for a new PCV on Thursday after I called in to confirm that it was covered under warranty for my '07 that is out of the factory time period warranty, but under the mileage limit.

Mine was slightly different, see my post here:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...Sensor-amp-PCV

I wonder if they would use the "pcv fix" or not? Also if you have to wait for MIL or not...?

I wouldn't think you'd need the letter, just give your dealer a call and check.

I got it too, I also have a 10/120k extension on my low pressure fuel sensor. To all of you who get your PCV replaced under this extension: Be sure that they check/replace the rear PCV as well because the bulletin clearly states to check it and if it is not the most recent part number it is to be replaced. In addition the PCV bulletin states to perform the FLAP motor and fuel pressure sensor bulletins if the vehicle has the extensions, and the flap motor bulletin states to perform PCV and Fuel sensor bulletins if the vehicle has the extensions and so on. Basically if you go in for one your extended coverage components they are to check/replace if necessary all of said covered components. Just make sure you don't get screwed out of free stuff

As I said above, google 821503.pdf and read it. It explains what the intake manifold controller does and why.

In fact, anybody that hasn't took a look at that pdf, do so, you might learn a few things :)

I think he meant "rear of the pcv" instead of 'rear pcv' for the part number.

Rear PCV is the aluminum pipe that goes from the valve cover down to the turbo.(bulletin refers to it as the turbo inlet pipe) The flap motor is mounted to the underside of the intake manifold and the low pressure fuel sensor screws onto the high pressure fuel pump

^^Yeah that I know as they call it the inlet pipe or something from various parts retailers, but never heard of a 'rear pcv'. Anyway, haven't receive anything in the mail yet, hope they roll out a 10/120 for the CVT.

My dealer won't change it out without a mil :( even though I am pretty sure my rear pcv is busted and makes a loud popping and bubbling noise when I am cruising at low rpms. Possible to be another check valve somewhere but I wish they would swap it for me so I could atleast rule it out if it's not the trouble maker

Just pour a little oil around your oil cap and tell the dealer it just appeared there. I had oil blowing out around my oil cap and when i took it to the dealer they replaced the PCV. MIL wasn't on.

Oil leaks at filler cap is one of the issues listed from the bulletin, so is a high pitched squeal at times from engine.

The paperwork that Audi of Canada sent out did not mention the VIN range, just the year of the model along with the engine code.

Does anyone have a pic of the old revision PCV and the newest PCV? I'm pretty sure the Pancake valve looking thing (to use B6 parlance) looks different. I have my PCV off two weeks ago replacing the VC gasket, but forgot to check my part number. Doh!

Edit: NM, google to the rescue.

Old?? (My 2006 MY looks like this)

New?? (my buddy's brand new 2.0t jetta has this one. I know its a transverse VW but still...)

ECS Lists the newest revisions but the pictures show both "looks" for the pancake valve thing.

Your buddy's new one is the newest version. Note the slight differences in appearance, only the newest one looks like that. 06F129101P is the part number for the newest one.

I have an early VIN B7 so the newest revision for me is this part: 06F129101N. Presumably that's the 'N' Revision. Whats the difference between the N and P revisions? they look identical, though I would imagine some inane, tiny ass detail has been changed...

Also does the N revision look like the top one or the bottom one of the pics i posted above? Just trying to sort this out.

There are two revisions, one for early vin and one for late vin. I know from experience that an early vin car will not run on the late vin revision.

N revision looks like the top picture. If you have an issue it should be replaced with the P revision (bottom picture) The design of the check valves has been changed and is supposedly stronger

See but most of this stuff only covers the later VIN revisions which as J.Owen stated will not work on an Early VIN b7. I'm just curious if the N revision is on par with the P revision only with slight differences to accomodate the early VIN b7s or if Audi just left us Early VIN'ers in the cold with a failure prone design.

Also does anyone know WHAT has changed from Early VIN to Late VIN? on my B6 there are striking differences in the 3 PCV revisions that people finally got a grasp on this year. The b7 looks identical from the pictures, but there has to be something different...

No it is not. The bulletin lists suffixes E, F, K, L, and N as old style and states to replace it with a P suffix. The internals on the valves are the major difference along with the visual differences between the 2 pics you posted that you can see. I hope this clears it up

Check this out, I uploaded this from the bulletin. http://www.audizine.com/gallery/show...=64105&cat=500

And one for the turbo inlet pipe http://www.audizine.com/gallery/show...=64106&cat=500

^^ Interesting. Thanks for filling in those blanks. super helpful info!

J.Owen: why do you say the p revision won't work on the early b7 then? Just want to satisfy my curiosity on this. Did you try it?

Always thought that if the first 9 alpha characters are the same, then it should work as the last character represents a revision number. Though I found this tidbit elsewhere:

Fits 2006-2008 Audi A4 2.0T - Fits from last six of Vin #165001-999999, split is in model year 2006

Pressure regulating valve that bolts to front of head, also called the PCV valve.

If you are experience a loss of boost and also oil around the oil cap then theres a good chance your factory PCV valve is shot. Replace it with this updated VW/Audi part to get things running how they should be.

NOTE: When replacing with this version it is required that the breather hose must also be changed with part number 06F103215A

FITS: 2006-2008 Audi A4 2.0T - Fits from last six of Vin #165001-999999, split is in model year 2006

The last six digits of mine falls out of that VIN range. I believe I've been running the N version for nearly the last three years and did have it checked out when it was taken off to get at the injector and it's fine so I'm not going to even bother with this unless it fails.

Check this out, I uploaded this from the bulletin. http://www.audizine.com/gallery/show...=64105&cat=500

Im not sure which revision suffix it was at the time as I did this almost two years ago, but it was the current revision for the later vin's. Installed and car had a very lumpy idle and would stall out, similar to having massive vacuum leak. It was a dealer mix up so I returned it for the newest revision for the early vin and everything was a go.
Expenses in F1 have gone down since the 1960s because teams don't need an extra pit crew to help the driver carry around his balls when he is not in the car.

Longtime lurker, fist time poster here - sorry to revive an old thread but this is driving me nuts!

Had my PCV done by the dealer under the warranty - I barely fall within the "late vin" -mine is #1651xx and the dealer installed valve N, not part P. I have the #06D103213G breather tube, which according to Europa and ECS is the "early vin". I am no longer throwing a CEL and my boost is better with the new PCV but is still a little flakey and I'm still getting slight RPM bumps/inconsistent rough idle so I was thinking it was the tube but now I'm not sure I even have the proper PCV.

    A) do I have the correct PCV valve for my car/are there major differences between the two? B) Which breather tube do I use? The revised 06D103215A is technically not for the PCV valve the dealer installed adn they said I currently have the correct parts. SO CONFUSING!!!! Thanks.

The "P" part should be vins 165001 and higher so it sounds like they may have put on the wrong part. I have yet to figure out what the difference is between the P and N revision. It sounds like they DID change something about how it works in the late VIN though since they've been updating the parts separately over the years for the late and early VINs. I don't think they would maintain the expense of updating the parts separately for no reason.

I also don't know the difference between the breather hoses. They look sthe same, but I'm sure theres some difference somewhere. Maybe a larger diameter opening, or a different check valve...

    .
All part numbers get updated to P per the tech bulletin. That why they are updating the rear pipe as well, if you put a P on a car with an older or faulty check valve in the rear pipe(early cars) it will dump oil into the turbo. Bulletins the call for a specific part number supercede etka

^^Yeah when I had my PCV replaced under warranty the dealer didn't put in the newer Tube, I called and made them replace it a week later. All the parts are like the ones pictured.

Those pictures are right out of the bulletin. I guess the tech who worked on your car didn't read it
