MRXZ you got some anger issues and you sound like a 12 year old. If you feel so strongly about helping BBS stay in busienss go get more wheels from them. Go look in your closet - i'm sure some of your clothes are "replica" designs from high end fashion houses so fuck you for not supporting .... idiot

Anger? I am calmly typing on my keyboard and I have presented valid arguments against reps. Your reasoning and assumptions make 12 year olds sound like fucking geniuses.
Between me, my gf, and my family, we have four sets of BBS wheels in use, and three old sets (RKs, RSes and a whole bunch of old school lips barrels and centers from my old BWM and my gf's old Golf). I did my part. And will keep supporting them.
I just did look in my closet, found no replicas. Not sure what makes you think I own any.
Unit, where the hell are your getting these great photos! Suprised I haven't seen a few of these shots, that silver B6 A4 with LM's/B6 Imola and B6 Nogaro S4 Avant... amazing shots. Desktop background if they were bigger!

Lol, I'm a pic whore, spend too much time digging out pics and using them as inspiration for my own cars ! started off in the mk4 vw forums and now I have a B6 I'll be probably do the same :)
You can most likely find high res version of the Nogaro Avant and Imola S4 on Aaron Ok's Flickr page.
Hopefully I can get some pics of my Avant up hear once I get the USP front, coils and my wheels on there.

seph: who's ricky and why were you at his place with all those dildos?
I own the Nogaro avant now. Was Dave Pasters but I bout it late last year. Hopefully going to pick up some wheels for it this weekend. Nothing special but better than the rashes up avuses that I bought it with.

I have to ask this. I'm not knocking on anyone. I love BBS wheels as much as the next person. But...
Why, if BBS is struggling so bad, don't they create a "budget" type of wheel option? Obviously it's possible, the replica wheel companies are doing it. Why can't BBS get smart and get in on some of the action? So what if it's not the same metal alloy. So what if it's not as light or durable as BBS's current wheels. People buy the replicas because they want the look without the price-tag. Why can't BBS offer an option for that? If you're into Auto-X or weekend racing, then you would have the option of upgrading because the need is there for a sturdier design. But, for the average joe, day-to-day commuting with a little spice, you don't need a set of race spec wheels, unless that's your thing, which is personal choice. Why doesn't BBS allow that choice to be made?
In the end, consumers should not and cannot be held responsible for the downfall of a company because the company lacks the vision to keep themselves afloat. Unless you're the U.S. Government, then you just bail them out. LMAO

Doing it... Doing what? Create? No, they don't create shit, they reverse engineer existing designs, disregard the fact that the design was optimized for forging, and cast it using the lowest Asian bidder. No ISO, VIA or TUV approval, no regulation, no nothing. I can create that kind of a business next week, with less than 20K start up capital, one trip to Singapore and no more than one or two employees. A couple of prototype sets of wheels, put them on a few "dope" rides just to take photos for a fancy website, and then start spamming online car forums... How you can compare that to any legit wheel brand is laughable.

Yes, but people buy those crappy wheels. The bottom line is that BBS needs to throw ASA a bone and start designing some good-looking cast wheels that can be sold in large numbers at a lower price to the millions of enthusiasts around the world that want some nice wheels for their daily driver. But the argument that fakes are taking business away from BBS and other high-end wheels isn't really valid. Someone that's prepared to spend $2k and up on BBS wheels isn't going to just settle for $800 knockoffs. In essence, the people buying fakes these days are the guys that were never going to blow thousands of dollars on high-end wheels.

It's not only about stealing customers that pay less for inferior replicas, it's about replicas hurting their reputation because god knows there is a lot of posers that put BBS caps on the reps, and then 10x more people think these soft alloy, cheap finish cast wheels are BBS. Same reason why getting genuine RAYS/VOLK replacement decals for TE37 spokes is so hard. RAYS doesn't want people putting their decals on shitty Varrstoen replicas because they're not forged, but cast, so there is no doubt that they're structurally inferior, no matter how accurate they look.

Again, you're talking about people who aren't "in the know." No enthusiast thinks BBS wheels are soft pieces of shit. If they do, they probably don't know shit about the automotive aftermarket. Maybe the heavyweight wheel companies like BBS and OZ need to start showing up at enthusiast events and start a campaign similar to the Wheel Whores' "Fake splits can f*ck off" movement. Something about replicas killing the industry or what would be really cool is if the two teamed up with other wheel manufacturers that are active in motorsports and did up a poster and shirts. Have a logo and two columns, with them titled "BBS" (or The Real Deal, whatever) and "Replicas". Under each, list the motorsport wins for the brand. Obviously BBS, OZ, etc. will have tons of big race wins, while reps will not. Tack on a line like "BBS ...a winning tradition" or something about real wheels vs. replicas. They need to be more active in getting the facts out there and show how replicas suck if they want to make a difference.

MXRZ likes me, I hvae no shame in my fake wheels like the rest of these posers... he knows my centercaps don't lie & i'm damn proud of it. Because I feel the same way... people are idiots buying replica wheels and slapping on authentic centercaps.

Homie
1) I didn't ask you to look for a replica shirt haha but do you think all those styles are replicas? Clothing designers copy each other all the time
2) At the end of the day its a business. Companies like LV can charge whatever they like for their bags and they will be immensely profitable (no matter how many knockoffs there are) - so it's BBS' job to make sure they have a profitable model.
a) As someone pointed out they gotta get with the times and maybe adapt their business model
b) Guys like teva pharma make generic drugs while the big pharma do the R&D ... its part of competition and business
c) How would you feel if BBS licensed out their design to these "budget wheel companies" - would you be as fuming mad? You'd probably be now mad at BBS for making you buy a wheel for 3x what the next guy got
So stop fuming and be a bit realistic and quit being a dck if some people can't afford something. And finally, if you're so set on quality, then let other ppl buy inferior products, i'm sure it'll make up for itself over time right?

To add to that, I'd be more than willing to bet that BBS makes most of it's money selling OEM wheels to manufactures where they can sell tens of thousands of sets of wheels per model year.

So let me irriterate; BBS and RAYS rep manufacturers should die in a fire... And FU to all you posers buying these inferior pieces of shit. (and I say that in a calm and collected manner, there is no anger here)

Blind loyalty to what? I've purchased all kinds of wheels, cast, forged, monoblocks, multi-piece from all kinds of brands other than BBS and RAYS... That's like saying I have a blind loyalty towards food, because for some reason you prefer to eat shit.

Guess what BBS did? They reinvented the wheel... literally.
This reminds me of a thread I read over on bimmerforums where someone was suggesting, for Leavenworth 2012, that the BMWs be separated from the VW guys so he could "have a conversation with someone that wasn't stoned."
Apparently his doesn't stink and neither does yours.
Good luck with your crusade, King Richard.
Better yet, sit down, have a drink, and chill out. Reinventing the wheel is a tiring subject.
