    Carbonio's latest carbon fiber intake for the 3.0 TFSI engine is a ram air design
    that completely separates the intake filter from the engine bay. Building from
    years of experience on and off the race track, Carbonio's and APR's engineering
    teams have spent countless hours developing a true cold air and ram air carbon
    fiber design that can be recreated affordably for the street performance enthusiast.

    For many years professional motorsport organizations have suffered great expense to
    properly tune the air intake delivery system for turbocharged engines for use in
    endurance and sprint races where every last horsepower and pound feet of torque can
    make the difference in position when crossing the finish line. Historically these
    designs have proven to be the most efficient and powerful although the most expensive
    to produce.

    Aftermarket performance companies have attempted to capitalize on these designs
    however the cost restraints have typically resulted in compromise and deviation
    from the true engineering principles associated with motorsport accomplishment.
    Don't be fooled by catch phrases and tag lines alluding to a new intake technology or
    special design characteristic. You won't see any of these gimmicks installed on race
    cars at the Nurburgring.

    Carbonio and APR have gone even further to maintain all oem specifications necessary
    to integrate cohesively with an otherwise stock engine to avoid raising eyebrows at
    the dealership. Flexibility was another characteristic of Carbonio's and APR's design
    whereas the new TFSI intake is also suitable for Stage 1 and Stage 2 modified engines
    all the way up to future supercharger upgrades.

    Constructed of aerospace grade carbon fiber and designed to remove intake restriction,
    APR’s Carbonio intake system provides smoother transitional airflow, increased air
    velocity, superior insulation of the incoming air to reduce intake air temperatures and
    a larger volume of available air to aid throttle response.


    Smooth and Direct Air Flow

    The OEM intake system vents some of the incoming air into the engine bay and takes
    several twists and turns before the air ever reaches the supercharger. The Carbono
    intake system simplifies the intake system by directing all incoming air directly
    at the filter.

    Modular Design



    The OEM intake system includes resonators in hose connecting the air box to the throttle
    body designed to reduce supercharger whine. The APR Carbonio intake system in Stage I form
    replaces the factory air box and filter, and will deliver roughly 11 AWHP over stock. The
    Stage II back pipe when combined to the Stage I Air box will increase power further to
    around 15 AWHP and will slightly increase intake supercharger whine.

    I placed an order with APR and they cancelled it. Ryan @ APR called me and said APR will not be selling any from the first batch. He told me to go through a reseller. :(

    Mine is being shipped on Thursday. Can't wait! Think I may get some times at the drag strip before installing to see if there's any noticeable difference.

    Slightly???? Somebody will have to post a video comparing it to the strat intake.

    I would prefer it to increase the SC whine significantly.

    That's nice I don't think any of us "users" were given that option... So to get a tune you HAVE to go to APR, but to get an intake you CAN'T go to APR... Interesting distribution strategy...

    What we need is the 3 intakes at the same strip or dyno on the same day... the damn things can be swapped in under 30 minutes... I am willing to either ship my strat for someone to test of if someone wants to ship me theirs to test do the testing for everyone... Heck maybe I will buy another of the aftermarket choices so I only need to find one...

    AWE/APR wanna support some indpendent testing? I'll cover shipping costs...

    How can you say over "stock" when the test was performed on an S4 with an ECU tune?

    What are the gains over a bone stock S4?

    Skyler, I can come by for a test fit and do some recordings comparing my Stratmosphere if need be.

    Over stock means "over the stock intake".

    I can't test the intake on a purely stock car now any more as the one we have here has exhaust, downpipe, tuning and pulley work.... not simply to remove items.

    Arin. Any videos of the whine with Stage 2?

    Have u heard the strat intake whine? Will it be similar?

    Good looking system but close to $700 with shipping, I just dont care that much for gains that I will barely feel and most likely will be in my head. I gotta admit though it would look great in my engine bay!

    if it is truely 15 at the wheel, it will be noticeable. the 91 tune was only 30,

    What was supposed to happen is that we were supposed to get more than we did in the first run. We took orders from retail and distributors up to a greater number than received. We then filled orders in the order they were placed (sacrificing a higher profit to retail) in order to support our dealers and their opportunity for profit so they can invest in local support.

    Retail clients that didn't make it in the first batch were supposed to have been apologized to and directed to a distributor that was receiving a shipment. I am sorry that this didn't happen.

    Our distribution philosophy supports a belief that local support through brick and mortar retailers that provide immediate and personal service are a benefit to the enthusiast community and the best long term business strategy for us.

    However, we realize we do not have retailers everywhere and that some enthusiasts are hobbyists that enjoy the installs as much as the product. We are also not idiots so we recognize the opportunities and frankly necessity to also have a small manufacturer direct e-tailing channel. And it is a small operation of our business, there is also the 80/20 rule.

    Thanks for the explanation... Figured it may be a supply issue... Nice to have demand greater than supply, especially with two intakes already out... Good for you guys... Now about that testing I mentioned ;)

    Theoretically....if you can replace only the awe silicon hose with OEM hose and it fits, should be good. Meaning, as long as their silicon hose is still in the OEM location, ie they didn't reposition the maf and it's attachment points.

    Hansel, Why not just sell the entire AWE setup vs piecing an intake together... not sure what the AWE one costs but I will guess you could get more than $200 which would fund the purchase of the APR stage 2 pipe... Assuming you want to run the APR that is...

    Is there going to be a tune that can take more advantage of exxhausts and this intake?

    More I thought about this, I truly only care about the supercharger whine vs the performance gains but I don't want a screaming loud one line the strat. Because stg 1 using the existing inlet I would imagine if I ordered just the stg2 pipe it would hook to the stock airbox and give me that extra whine I am looking for? Can any confirm?

    That happened with my order placed early yesterday. Got a call from Ryan referring me to Achtuning. No biggie overall, maybe a day delay in getting my hands on it. Not done any busniess with Actuning so it's a chance to get to know them a bit. They are not exactly local (3 hours + a border) but certainly a crew worth knowing.

    Achtuning is awesome. They'll take great care of you. They're close to where I live and I wouldn't take my car anywhere else (they've done all the mods on my car). And a great bunch to hang around with as well. :)
