K & N air filter scam

Just bought the K & N air filter for my RS4 (model 33-2209) and it doesn't fit!
I guess will have to go with OEM...

That's weird , I bought mine at auto zone. Both K & N web site and in store K & N catalog says that model 33-2209 fits 2007 RS4. When I unpackaged it and compared to the OEM one I already knew it's going to be bad-it was smaller. When I tried to fit it in,it was loose and didn't fit right (definitely to small).
Dtoys4.2 do you remember which model did you purchased for your RS4?

I use OEM paper that I change 2X a year or when needed.

Come on guys that makes me feel so stupid :) does it mean I don't know how to properly install it? Perhaps I did something wrong indeed! But what??? This should be simple,right? K&N seemed to me at least 1-1.5" too short and when i put in place it was LOOSE,WTF? :)

hey. its possible that autozone took the real filter out of that box and put a different filter in your box, causing you to get a small one. thats why i ordered mine off there website, so morons at autozone dont swap it out to save 2 bucks at the registers.

This is my guess as well. Either, go to a different store and buy another K&N to see if it's different, or buy online as was mentioned. If you buy from another store and it fits in the car properly, take that first one back to Autozone and slap them with it.

I am going to take the exact measurements of my OE filter and compare it with the measurements on K&N web site.
Will do it on Wednesday,keep you posted...

Just got a new K&N air filter (ordered from Amazon.com) and IT DOESN'T FIT. Same model as before: 33-2209,what is going on here :)
As you can see on the pictures (left the oryginal packaging in case of return),comparing to the OE filter this one is abviously too small. When I put the K&N Filter in place (pic 2) it was loose and didn't cover the whole spot...What do you guys think?

Dude you either have the wrong part# or bad luck. Order the filter from K&N directly - this way you can have a replacement sent without issue if needed. I wish I knew which part# I used when replacing mine but I don't. Of course, mine fit perfectly...

EKIM just beat me to it. Look in the DIY section to get a better idea of what the air filter box looks like. There is also a DIY for the cabin filter.

it's funny. it's one of those moments where you can't get mad at doing something so ridiculous and all that you can do is laugh. lol. I have those moments all the time.

Actually replacing the filter too often is not a good idea. Filtration actually increases as the filter accumulates some dirt as this also acts as filtering material.
