Here's pics of the parts and weigh in as well as on the car - http://achtuning.com/new-products/st...r-new-audi-s4/

The clearance was VERY tight between the spokes and caliper (~2mm clearance), there was tons of space on the outside edge, which is where I thought it would be closer (these are on STOCK 18" wheels). While I was ensured that there wouldn't be any issues with heat and expansion, I ended up getting a 3mm spacer on the fronts to give ~5mm clearance for my comfort

Pedal is very firm now, travel is much more linear and direct. They are only partially bedded in right now but the bite is hard and immediate - the kit has the same compound as I had on my stocks - the StopTech Street Performance compound. Wheels are still very dirty, it'll be a nice day tomorrow so I'll clean the wheels and get some good pics!

So is it safe to say you could lose a solid 80lb with brakes and wheels?

Can I ask how much the stoptechs cost?

You are correct sir, and that would be a savings of 20lb of unsprung weight per corner which is very significant.

    OP:

Any chance you ran a before and after with a G-Tech? ie. 0-60 and 60-0? Would be kind of interesting to see what that equates to in the real world.

Skyler, my existing "Evo Shop" installs a lot of Stoptech brakes on Evo's and other Mitusubishi's. Think they can do the BBK easily since they're familiar with Stoptech's? Is their anything quirky with the install or some tools which are german specific to do the brake swap? Most likely, they won't have any tools which are specific to Audi's and/or german cars since they mostly work on Mitsubishi's.

Rears are not as large and wont' weigh as much, but the front rotors were 23.5 lbs stock and 320mm, the Stoptechs are 18.1 lbs and 355mm, have more mass and better cooling. You drop over 5 lbs a corner of rotational AND unsprung mass right there. You could swap out the rear rotors with stock sized Stoptechs (slotted too) and likely kill another 3 lbs a corner there, as they are smaller rotors.

They have red only in stock, but if you don't mind paying full price (their closeout deal is crazy as hell cheap) you can get them in black for sure and I think gray - http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4b8/msgs/20966.phtml

I bedded mine in on the way home, by the time I had them up to temp I was rolling slowly in neutral on a gentle slope and a guy yells "Hey dude your brakes are smoking!" I waved and said "Thanks I know!" and he seemed confused. I didn't come to a stop with the brakes applied so it was all good, drove around at 40mph for about 5-8 min with no brake use and got them back down to temp, they smell good now and have not squealed once.

Easily, this is made for our cars specifically, it's a 1:1 part swap mounting to existing points on the car. The hardest part is getting the stock rotors to turn loose. Had to give them some umph and lightly scuffed them as a result, so they will need a light turning proir to use again.

Yes, they clear 18's no problem from the circumference standpoint, it's the spokes where it's damn close. I'll upload my pics now that show the wheels all dirty

    *** Edit - here you go ***

Clearance shot with spokes, you can see the closest point where the fingerprint in the brake dust on the spoke is moving to the center of the wheel from the "P" on the caliper.

Not all 18's are created equal....it's best to download/cutout the template to verify.

Fronts only, don't assume that because I said 10 per corner, that I was meaning all 4 corners were done, just 2 corners were

Very true and excellent point. This is why I specified they will be ok with stock 18's. Stoptech lists that a minimum of an 18 is required, but not that all will fit.

Awesome price. Just curious...what's the rational behind product sales where they require adding the item to their cart to see the price. The fact that it's already in my cart doesn't mean I'm going to make a $2k+ purchase you know...well it's already in my cart might as well....

There is most likely an agreement between stoptech and their vendors not to advertise a price below MSRP or something.

This is just a few select kits that we were able to get a great deal on and pass along the savings, we're unable to change the configuration. We recommend using the template if the wheels you have have not already been verified to clear.

Unfortunately as these have already been built it's not really something that can be changed easily. A set of replacement zinc coated rotors can be purchased for $590-pr and you could swap them out and sell the non-zinc coated rotor rings. The 355x32mm rings are a universal fit on all StopTech BBK's using a 355x32 rotor so it shouldn't be too hard to sell them.

I would think that it'll be an entire kit. I used to work for a brake company, while the calipers for a 355mm kit may look the same as those for a 385mm kit, the piston sizes are different to maintain the brake balance.

Very nice, NWS4Guy. So what are you doing to the rear calipers? Because now you have red calipers in the front, but black calipers in the rear. You're gonna have the rear calipers powdercoated to match the fronts?

Rotor rings hats and brackets would be necessary, pricing for those components would be $1,350. The bias would be shifted slightly forward as well.

Wasn't going to worry too much about it, I wasn't sure I would like the red but I do, I'll see how I feel later and coat them if I can't with with it

Skyler, my understanding is that there are specific ST-60's for the A4 that are somehow different than the S4 versions. Are the templates the same?
My other home is an AIRSTREAM.

The templates are the same though the piston sizing in the kits are different and specific to A4 or S4.

I just ordered this BBK a few mins ago, so I am hoping i'll like it. I have done lots of reading on all of the kits and this one seems to be just as good as any of the others. Has anyone had any problems with it on the B8 S4?

    .
In my research I haven't found any reviews for the ST BBK on the S4. The reviews I've found have been the A4,A5 & S5. Every review gives the ST kits good reviews and I'm looking forward to upgrading to the ST-40 on my A4.
    Tschüß!
