We are wrapping filming this week. I am hoping to be back home NLT Thursday. We are sooooo close. Once I return, I am hoping to have everything done by Sunday. One more week and you will see results. I will call my local tuner to schedule Dyno time for later this week so I can get my baseline as soon as I return. As for my post mods dyno, I will get it the week after. I still have to work out the logistics for getting the ECU tune and not shipping the ECU off.

BTW, I also ordered the Ross-Tech VCDS and Bentley manual. +1 VCDS in Jax FL area.

Hi everyone! So I finally got home last night to a billion parts. Exciting times! I called my local dyno shop trying to pencil in my baseline but haven't been successful in reaching him yet. It is only 0830. Hopefully he will be able to schedule me in ASAP because I really wanted to get the baseline maps accounted for so I can see exactly how much power I gain from all these mods.

Thanks to everyone following this thread for your patience! I know it has been a while but I did not expect my trip to last this long. I will post some pictures later today of the rest of my parts and hopefully a few snaps of my car getting it's baseline. Also, I still owe some T&A pics with the parts as well. That will also be on the way. Stayed tuned!

Got some exciting news, but I think I will hold out until the dyno figures are out. Work starts in 5 hours. Pics will flood in when I wrap up for tonight. I should be able to at least knock out the turbo and exhaust tonight, but we will see as the process will be slowed a bit because I am filming it.

BTW, I want to give a big thanks to Chris at APR for sending me the K04 torque specs and IPB's. I hadn't received the Bentley manual yet so this was handy.

Hey guys, just wanted to drop in and give yall a little update. I wasn't able to start until late Saturday night and was only able to wrench for a few hours before I hit my first obstacle, that being I had lost my T-55 Torx bit and it was to late to allocate one. After buying one this morning, I had family stuff to do and didn't get started until around 7pm. Needless to say, I am still ripping her apart. Removing that turbo is a son of a bitch. Considering the amount of room in the engine bay, one would think that the engine would be somewhat easy to get around. Not so much. Simple things such as the heat shielding and other hose clamp brackets are mounted in the most obscure places with star cap screws when simply using a 6 point bolt would allow a wrench to easily remove this hardware. Those little bastards will be replaced during reassembly with hardware that makes more sense.

Anyways, Right now I am pulling the right engine mount from the engine so I can access the last few nuts that secure the retainer plate on the lower side of the exhaust manifold. Again...removing this turbo is a PITA!!!

As for my other parts, the exhaust has been fully removed, as well as the intercooler and all piping. Naturally the airbox has been removed as well. I have prepped the factory crash bar to the intercooler and set that aside so it does not get damaged while I fiddle with this damn turbo. One note for anyone deciding to go for the APR quad exhaust, the kit from APR does NOT come with the heat shielding, exhaust bracket and extra bushing for the new muffler on the passenger side of the vehicle. When bolting to an S-Line bumper, there is a cavity for an extra muffler, but is simply covered by a piece of plastic. Upon removal, all of the mounting studs for the exhaust hangar and heat shielding are present. I was a little disappointed to see that all the money I spent and I couldn't get all the parts I need to install it. Does APR know something I don't? Is this heat shielding made of unobtainium and costs thousands? Either way, I will be in touch with Audi tomorrow and will order the factory exhaust shielding for the passenger side S4 muffler as well as the exhaust hangar bracket and rubber bushing. Hopefully there isn't a huge wait time on those parts. Also, the new grille is mounted up to the bumper as well. She looks purty in all CF.

Once the damn turbo is out, everything will go much smoother (hopefully). I have to work tomorrow so I am not sure when the hell I am going to be able to screw with this crap. I was expecting to have the whole weekend to work on it but...whatever.

Will update when I have more to update on. Beer time.

I just finished speaking with Audi. The exhaust hangar bracket and bushing is $48. The bushing comes with the bracket. The heat shielding is $62. I am heading to Audi now to pay for the parts and place them on order. The bracket is located in NJ and will not be in until Thursday morning. Hopefully by then I will just be waiting on the bracket and shielding to finish everything. Installing the rear muffler, heat shielding and bracket shouldn't take more than 10 minutes as I have already installed the left muffler assembly in a matter of minutes (one bolt and 2 bushings).

I will post part numbers when I get back for future reference.

Yeah the OEM parts for dual exhaust add-on are not cheap. I have them listed as part of my classifieds ad and people seem to discount them as typically part of the deal....

So I finally got a few hours tonight to wrench on the car. Spent the weekend in Orlando and haven't had any time during the week to work on her at all.

    UPDATES:
    Turbo is finally out.
Front bumper is still prepped with the new grill and awaiting install.
Intercooler is still prepped with the crash bar and awaiting install.
    Driver side muffler is installed.
Passenger side heat shielding and hangar bracket is sitting at my Audi dealership ready for pick up tomorrow morning.

    Hmm..seems like something is missing.

The pics were taken from my phone so not best quality; however, I have been using a SLR here and there to get better shots. Will upload when I am done. Also, my other toy is taking up most of the room in the garage so things are a bit cramped. Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed and I also hope I can get back to re-installing everything ASAP. Turbo is the first to go back in. I will probably tackle that on Wednesday. Later.

I also want to add that the Bentley manual is HORRIBLE. A complete waste of money and I will be returning this piece of garbage manual. It literally contains NO useful information for the 2.0t which is listed as being covered on their website. In fact, when going to the engine section, there isn't even a section for 2.0t! What a piece of rubbish!

BTW, if anyone is looking to perform the K04 upgrade themselves, I have quite a few notes that will aide in removing the stock turbocharger and getting the K04 back in. If you were to perform the upgrade according to the factory, it is way more involved then simply unbolting the turbocharger and removing it from the exhaust side of the engine. I will have a detailed write up of the issues I ran into when removing and installing and how I was able to cheat the system. The only real issues I ran into were with the turbocharger removal. The exhaust, intercooler and intake (when I get to install portion) was very straight forward and simple...so far. This weekend all I have is time so I should (loose term here people) be able to get everything together this weekend. Regardless, there will be plenty of updates and install pics which is the good stuff. Whether it finishes or not depends on how much people bug me.

Hey guys. I got a few hours in on the car today and made some pretty decent progress. Check it out. These are just teaser shots as I will shoot everything with my SLR when the car is a bit cleaner and more put together. Enjoy.

And here are the parts remaining to complete the install...

Not shown is the completed Carbonio intake box and CF radiator shroud. You guys will have to wait until install to see that.

Thanks for stopping in, and stayed tuned. Tomorrow is completion day.

Are you going custom tune?! That would be sweet! Not sure why nobody has gone bigger injectors or fuel pump or custom tune yet on the B8's. The only people who say we don't really need it is APR and they sell one of the only turbo kits on the market....convenient?

Awesome job, been following this thread closely. Whatever you end up with I'm sure it will be amazing. Good luck with the rest of the build.

Awesome job, been following this thread closely. Whatever you end up with I'm sure it will be amazing. Good luck with the rest of the build.
Good call rippin! That is the plan. Only problem with custom tune is not having the multiple map option. Also, we have to look into getting rid of the O2 sensor code, if it pops. Luckily I purchased a ross tech cable so I can diagnose any issues that arise after the tune.

Updates! I know the pictures of the turbo look the same; however, do not be fooled. The difference between the mock up photos I had in my last update and this stage is monumental. Connecting all the lines is a complete PITA. Mainly the coolant return line. I probably was stuck on this damn bolt for at least an hour. Once all the lines were connected, it was a breeze getting everything else hooked up. Intercooler pipes and core maybe took 30 minutes tops, and that was because I am completely anal and didn't have the eurocode logo facing outward of the vehicle on the driver side so I took it off and did it again. lol.

So at this point, I have 3 things left. I have the exhaust midpipe, intake box and coolant. Once complete, I will crank her up and check for coolant/oil leaks, any weird sounds, vibrations and of course run diag. with the Ross tech. Since every part so far has been mechanical, I would suspect my only error will be the o2 sensor. It should also run like shit until I get the tune. It will be fine as long as I stay out of boost. Or at least that's what I tell myself. I will also make a complete write up of the install.

Enjoy the photos. Remember, nice SLR shots will be on the way, as well as some T&A shots with the car.

Do fresh turbos have to be primed? Is there a special procedure? Or do you prime it like fresh engine to get the oils flowing?

I added oil in the oil inlet port on the top of the turbo after I had connected the return line. You never want to put in a dry turbo and start the car. IDK if it would actually damage the turbo or not as the oil would begin flowing immediately, but better safe then sorry to get the bearings lubricated prior to thousands of revolutions as soon as the engine turns over and engages the turbine.

Dyno, tune and flash scheduled at 1400 Tuesday. Going all custom. Installing midpipe, airbox and coolant tonight and firing her up for testing. Should be interesting. I will have some really cool sound clips, video and pictures as well as graphs from the dyno. I can record some sound clips tonight, but since it is untuned, it wouldnt be a good representation. I also wont be able to rev her up. Anyways, more pics to come tonight!!!!
