Lightbulb OFFICIAL: B6 A4 Random Little Question Thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Over on G35Driver, we have a thread for random questions that may or may not have been answered in other threads. There are quite a few of knowledgeable members(including myself :) ) that contribute to all the questions asked in the thread.

Rather than some people spending a lot of time searching in hopes of finding their EXACT answer, they post in the "RLQ" thread and one of us either answers right away or those of us with skilled searching ability, we locate the applicable threads for them.

Its been a big hit over there and I thought I might share the wealth by starting a similar thread here.

    Any takers?

    Here's one.

My drivers side exterior door handle "cover" is loose and it rattles when I close the door. I see some tabs that may be bent to make it tighter, but I don't want to damage anything. Anyone else have this problem?

If you life the door handle, theres a couple of flaps you push towards the rear of the car. It lets you take off the door handle piece and you can put silicone behind it to stop the rattle. I did the DIY a while back and remember seeing a thread for it that had pictures. Ill see if I can find it.

    EDIT: Here it is!

Best idea for a thread ever! haha

Here's mine, Anyone know where I can buy a full set of triple square sockets? all I find online are small 4 or 5 piece kits that I'm not sure if they have all the sizes I'm going to need.

I'm looking for a full rail of a dozen sockets and whatnot.

I got mine from here, http://www.haltonauto.com/, its not local to you but try calling them I'm sure they will ship within Canada.
I get most of my tools from them and 9/10 they are better priced and can get you anything you need

http://www.jetequipment.com/en/produ...8&groupid=1763, This is the set I purchased from them. Cant remember the price tho

What will you be using them for? I've only ever used the M10 bit for axles and front seats. The rest were a waste of money so far

good idea for a thread btw

Mostly the drainplugs, seats and axles like you said. I've seen some pulleys on the engine that have what appears to be triple square bolts in them too. I need to replace the idler pulley once it warms up a bit. I would rather buy a large set to make sure I have them all, then to rip half the car apart and find out I don't have the right one :(

great idea! When i drive off in 1st gear, i hear like a "clunk clunk clunk..." in the low rpms then it goes away as i accelarate, this only happens in first pretty much, Is this due to a bad transmission mount? Any other thoughts on why it happens?

I searched and this is definitely not talked about...

Is there any way to replace the e-brake push button??

The only option I came across is the B7 push button which is a totally different design and not a direct swap.

The round turning controller for the sun roof doesn't always work. If I have the sunroof open and turn the control to full close very quickly, it will almost never work. I have to hold it and turn it slowly.... little annoying thing, anyone else have this issue? However, i can turn it to OPEN very quickly and it'll work perfectly....

Mine does the same. I though there was a recall on the 2002 sunroof switch. Maybe I'm making that up????
I have two questions hopefully someone can answer,
    1. Can the glove box latch be replaced and how do you remove it, just the latch inside the car. I found it using the search Clicky
    2. Can the rear control arm bushings be replaced. About to do a full suspension upgrade and don't want to replace the rear control arms. Just wanted to know if the bushings can be replaced. TIA

Mine did the same thing so I removed the entire unit and clean the contact as well as bending it a bit more so it has more resistance. It works perfect now!!

Same here. I always have to turn it to one notch before fully open to get it going, then turn it to fully open and it works then

My center console has the coating of paint (or whatever it is that Audi uses) on both sides of it closer to the shifter plate rubbing off probably because of the previos owners legs rubbing on it all the time. It has happened to both the sedan and cabrio, and is really obvious since it's shiny in the black interior and isn't matte. Any fix for this?

I have the same thing, its gotta be a control arm bushing issue of some sort. Anyone have this and know which bushing or mount causes this ??

    2 Questions

    1.) What spark plugs for a 2003 3.0

2.) Steps to removing valve cover on 3.0 (ie replacing gasket afterwards, etc. - i just want to take a peek inside)
I could write something cliché and insightful, but that would be too cliché and insightful.

Anybody remember how or where to get blank key blades for a b7 key fob that are tough enough to get cut by a locksmith?
