Try and think what it was like when I was running codes 24 hours a day for over a week. we learned a few tricks though, like how to keep a module alive with the ignition off. We are very resourceful

But yes and no to the question. I run at full charge rate when the car is in testing (6-12 amps), then drop it to 2amps when I'm not there to bring the battery to full state again.

David - man, I'd love to have you scan my 2009 S5 NA car with fully functioning eCode LED's at the rear - (all coded by Kufatec) but, I just happen to be in the UK on business until about 1st week of April. Plus they want to make one last tweak (by remote to Germany) to fix a hyper-blink in the dash and a "data set implausible" message in VCDS ...at least one of the other two successful cars coded this way - and one of them is PERFECT - may be able to volunteer.

That would be great. Having a car re coded would answer a lot of questions and I'm sure the other S5 owners would love you for it. Incidentally I know why you have hyper dash light. It should be pretty simple to fix I would think. They forgot to enable one of the lights. This is causing the flasher to go fast because it's running at a reduced load. I know this from trialling some coding. I was able to disable the little turn signal on the lights and it duplicated the issue you are mentioning. IF we could scan your car before and after they fix it, I'd like to see if they missed something obvious.

Maybe they should arrange a closeout sale for their dongles - who's going to buy them when we release everything? They must hate us ...

When Kufatec should find the correct coding, they used many "new" units (46), and they more less destroyed them all - but I think by now they have earned all the money back times at least 50.

It's amazing if you ask me. Our resources are extremely low in comparison to Kufatec and look what was accomplished. Two people working together in different continents... Once again though, it was Thorsten that accelerated this one. If it was left to me alone it could have been a year before I could have figured it all out.

So we're even better since we didn't destroy anything?

I think we are pretty safe with what we do. Modules are pretty smart, you have to really try to break them.

David, my NA 09 S5 is the one with the 100% working ROW lights(no errors and no hyperblink) that rnlabas mentioned above. Kufatec did a remote session and got this working for me. Let me know if you'd like to scan my car, I have a VCDS and don't mind helping out at all.

No problem - as soon as Im back in the states, I'll set it up with you. Then I'll set up the "fix" with them, then we can re-scan. I was the first guinea pig that drove this RoW resolution after the leader of the group buy gave up and returned them. I was actually the first guy who tried the dongle too, and I REALLY wanted eCode LEDs - so I had a vested interest. I had to walk them through each difference between the NA and EU versions, which pin, wire and bulb lit what, cuz they didn't have an NA car nor paid much attention to the differences. But they did stand tall and continued to work with us, so I give them props. B's patience paid off though, and the last of the triumvirate is in the same state as me, so he'll also appreciate any resolutions.

I know now though that they really don't want the hassle (at least for eCodes retrofitted to NA cars) for this. I don't think they realize what they're missing with the entire B8 opportunity - and quite possibly the legal disclaimer for programming cars against the DOT...

The reverse light thing bugged Kufatec for awhile I think mostly cuz they just didn't know how weird an approach Audi took with the NA cars. Then there's the "Data Set Implausible" note - and the accompanying major fault that the J393 is basically dead too...

Well I guess thanks to ExhaustNote I have the ability to switch a NA Bulb to Euro LED now. I need to understand more of what Kufatec did in the module but that shouldn't be hard. Just need a few more scans to compare. In a pinch though I'm sure I could transplant the coding into another car and it should work.

Ok here is a new video showing some other cars I've worked on. Now I think I can do a better job on the sedan. I had no idea the bulb version had the fog lights in a different spot but I am pretty sure they can be included as part of the brake lights. Considering this was all done remotely I think we did a good job so far. Its been mentioned that the bulb cars can swap out the red bulb for orange in teh turn signal as well. Take a look and see what you think so far.

Aren't the LED taillights all laid out in the same format as the bulb tail lights then ? I'd just assummed they were.

I can tell you that this is not true. My US Spec sedan bulb tails use a clear bulb behind a red reflector. My E-code LED tails use a clear bulb behind an amber reflector so it would take changing the reflector to change the color of the turn signal.

'jcs' and I discovered the same thing yesterday...it's not a coloured bulb but a coloured reflector.

My head hurts. Here is a freebee for some users. I was trying to scan an S5 today in Europe and the access codes failed. In fact the defaulet VCDS code didn't work either.

Now if anyone ever comes across that I have a code that will work. Please send $5.99:

Amazing job, you two have done...I never thought it was possible to have inner bulb tail lights on the Avant enabled as brake lights without an extra wire, it really adds an extra safety feature to the car,gracias amigos!

Sorry for those that where trying to set up some scans today. I spent the day working on the lighting coding. I have the light channels all figured out now I think. I can pretty well convert any LED set or bulb into any other light so it makes the lighting on the car very customizable. All I need to do now is make sure I know of all the lights that are available on the different modules and make sure I catalogue them. It's difficult without seeing the cars in front of me.

Oh that wasn't the code to unlock the secret channels. I'm not giving that away yet ;)
