I got my first CEL tonight and I want to erase it

Start the car and it feel like running on 2-3 cylinder, let it run a minute nothing change and a solid CEL light up. Stop the engine, wait and restart, still running poorly with the solid CEL and 30sec later flashing CEL. I turn off the engine and call the road assis.

After a little discussion with the guy to plan the towing, I decided to give it another try, start the car and it running fine but still have the CEL on, make 20Km and everything is normal.

There is a way to clear the CEL without Vag or another diagnostic tool, like remove the negative pole for a while and that's it!?!

I think the CEL was cause by some condensation in my gas tank and the engine had take a little drop of water so now the water is "gone" I think everything is OK!!

I bought the car 2months ago with the Audi Certified Warranty (2years 20000km more), they should have done every recall and TSB.

The car start after a few turn every time, even after that, so the coil pack should be the problem, I think!!

So there is no way to clear the CEL without the stealer or a diagnostic/VAG-Com tool!?!

I have heard that when you go APR tuned you can clear CEL codes with a program they offer, I have APR stage 1 but I haven't really done the research to see if thats true or if you have to buy a program upgrade to get it.

There is a reason the CEL comes on, don't just clear it until you read it.

I have had the same thing happen about 3 times this winter. There's a breather that freezes up on these cars if its really slushy or just gets damp and once you turn the car off it gets cold and freezes. When I've had it happen, I just let the car idle (spitting and popping and what not, car shakes a little) for about 5 mins (pretty much until the CEL turns on) and then turn it off and let it sit for another 5 minutes so the heat that was generated at start up can thaw out the breather. Start it back up and no problem. Then head over to autozone and have them clear the misfire codes. I took it to the dealer the first time around and they replaced the breather but it happened again the very next day so I'm pretty sure there's not much one can do about it. Just depends on how warm out side and how damp the breather gets followed by drastically dropping temps after the car is turned off. I thought about having the dealer look at it again but I figure since it happened the very next day after getting a new one there isn't much they can do about it. I'm no expert though. Just thought I'd chime in with my experiences.

Good to know, I was thinking that is because a take the car in a heated garage with a near empty tank and the outside temps was -20c!! But the freezing breather sound good!!

Do you remember the exact code of missfire that pop, just to inform myself when I take the car at the garage tomorrow for clearing the CEL!!

APR stage 1 cel clearing can be done if you pull the cruise control toward you and hold it for 5-10 seconds. At the same time, turn the key to ON but don't start it until the dash light flashes.

The CEL was Off when I drove to the garage so took it anyway just to be sure.

    Result:
    -Random Missfire 000768
    -MissFire Cyl.1 000769
    -MissFire Cyl.2 000770

    This one was a surprise
    -Pressure drop between turbo 004759

For the Missfire this should be a water puff that's it, the plug are clean, except one with little dirt on the porcelain!!

For the pressure drop, the guy said this is probably the Oring that make the seal between the DV and the seat. If this is the DV I'll take the car at the dealer for a replacement!!

Thanks all for the advise and comment, problem Solved!!

Instead of starting a new thread I'll update this one!!!

This afternoon, start the car to go work, everything is normal. Let the car run for a couple of minute to let the oil reach the head, still fine.

Put it in gear and when I reach 2000rmp a thick white smoke came out the exhaust everytime the car is in load, when I release the gas no smoke.

Bring the car to my local Audi garage(not dealer) to vag-com, Throttle body and O2 sensor bank 1 and 2 internal resistance to high. Between the time the smoke came and I arrive at the shop no more smoke, even on load. The engine temps as reach the normal point!!

Anyone have a clue of what is coming of my exhaust!?! Have a appointment at the dealer Thursday for my oil change and to sort out this thing.

Ah and no CEL poped out.

Can anyone have ever post a vid of a blown DV, have a weird noise when a release the gas

Sounds like condensation.... Your fine.... Its just moisture that forms in your exhaust from teh heating/cooling process.....
