Excellent DIY. Hope you don't mind me moving it to the "tech" subforum where DIY's are being placed for reference.

Lets thank the guys that have posted a DIY bumper removal instructions with pictures and step by step instructions for our B8's, including this one and the one I saw for a S4 B8. I love the part when the instructions say to remove the torx screws and clips in the fender well. By how? How do you remove the dam clips?!!!!!!!

To add to this great write up, thanks again Okan509, I will attempt to explain how to remove those P.I.T.A. fender well clips.

The clip I'm referring to slides on a pin (Picture 7 & 8 of Okan509 original post). The pin looks like the head of a nail. The clip has a small tab on one side only. The side with the tab, take a flathead screw driver and pull back the edge of the clip away from the fender liner, it will bend up. While holding the tab side up, slide the clip away from the tab.

    Hope this helps.

Peel back liner and locate a vertical thread nut by the fender, and a horizontal screw further in

Loosen the vertical thread nut and remove the horizontal screw

I'm not sure if loosening the vertical thread nut is necessary. The audi techs didn't need to do this and in the "DIY bumper removal" in the S4 forum u can clearly see both vertical nuts still there with the bumper completely removed.

Question regarding the re-installation of the bumper. In the picture below, you can see the two square notches cut out of the bumper, where the top of the bumper meets the bottom of the fender. Are there some sort of posts, pins, clips, etc. that these notches lock onto?

Reason I ask is because after I re-install the bumper, on the passenger side, the bumper can be fairly easily pulled out (looking exactly like the pic below). I'm thinking that the holes are there to lock onto a pin or something to prevent the bumper from being able to move outwards. I can pull the bumper out even though the two nuts (on the vertical bolts) that hold this part of the bumper in place are fully tightened up. This only happens on passenger side, the driver's side is fine.

    Awesome DIY guide, Okan

I had to contend w/ the fender liner clips when I installed my Eurocode intercooler pipe, and all I can say is that they SUCK to get unclipped. From what I remember, you have to fold one side over until you can see the nub that it's attached to in the fender (you may have to rotate the clip a bit to see the attachment point). Once you do that, you slide the clip off away from you. The process is a pain to do and a pain to describe IMHO. I can't think of any other way to describe it so sorry if this post is an epic fail haha

^Ya I was away focusing on other stuff and then the holidays came. The AZ community has too many cool ppl for me to stay away too long I guess Ya lemme know if you need any help w/ the HFIC install. I can tell you right now, be on the lookout for a small ratchet set and/or a high-quality one that ticks over w/ the slightest movement, cuz one of the bolts on the OEM pipe assembly is a PITA!

I purchased the a new glossy black grille. Do I need to buy the "quattro" emblem (it didn't come with it)? Or is there a way to take it off my old grille? Is it difficult to remove and transfer? Thanks!

That little quattro emblem is held on by two small clips that are accessible from right under the emblem itself. I used my fingers and was able to do it without dropping either clip. Takes literally 30 seconds to take off. The harder part is putting it back on but if you have the grille and bumper off car, I'm sure it will take less time than that.

S5 but this is what I used (and Okan's guide) when I took off my front end, it is pretty much the same. Good luck.

Check the ECS intercooler page, they have a pretty good guide for removing the bumper. You could also check Eurocode high flow intercooler pipe, or intercooler. I forget which one, but also a good guide!
