Change MPG to L/100KM - How?!

Can anyone tell me - how do I change MPG to L/100KM? I imported a US car to Canada but when I change all the units to metric in the computer (non MMI P+), everything changes to metric except fuel consumption - it stays as MPG!

I've messed around with my VAGCOM, but I can't seem to see the right option.

I took a quick look in my owner's manual and noticed a foot note stating that average fuel consumption and speed are displayed in metric for Canadian vehicles while for the digital speedometer is clearly states it can be changed to MPH so I think this will have to be changed via VCDS.

I do recall a country setting while I was poking around. I'll try and remember to check tomorrow and see if I can find it again.

mine displays as L/100KM and i cant seem to get it to KM/L no matter what options i ticked in VAGCOM.

and i tried converting to MPG also and it doesnt

i suspect there's an over riding command somewhere else that needs to bbe changed as well. I am sure of it.

I always thought that reporting would be based on standard metrics for consumption...MPG and L/100Kms. Never heard of Kms/Ltr.

If your car is MY2010+ you can change it in "Car -> Setup -> Settings"

Otherwise you need to do it via a VCDS
    Code:
    [17 - Instruments]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 7
    Bit 2-3 – Consumption Display: km/l
Reset MMI settings in “Car->Setup->Settings->Default settings”

The highlighted part above about resetting the MMI settings is what I wasn't doing - I'd found the correct byte and changed it over, but it wasn't changing on the MFD, so I was confused - Thanks so much rlarsen!

I think you "only" have the non-MMI (Symphony-/Concert Radio) system - which I don't know the coding for. But if you should be able to find the right coding for your system, then it should be found in unit [56 - Radio] - where the coding for MMI 3G Plus is found in unit [5F - Information Electr.], or via the "hidden menu".

    According to http://a6retrofit.tripod.com/articles/a5vagcodes.html

"Change radio Concert/Symphony splashscreen: According to capvag at A5OC.com (http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthrea...68/index3.html) changing in module 56 - Radio byte 12, setting bit 0 from 0 to 1 results in an "S5" logo on the splashscreen (the startup screen on the radio), setting bit 1 from 0 to 1, results in an "RS" splashscreen. Setting both bits 0 and 1 from 0 to 1 results in an "S" logo."

I did this and it worked for my Concert radio :)
