Well here it goes...Car started to get dismantled on this past Monday...The car is at AMS Autowerks in Linden, NJ and they are making great progress on the car...They are trying their hardest to get it all done to bring down to Waterfest this year...I will try to post as much pics as I can of the progress, so here it goes.

First off, picture of my car

looking good, What are you planning on doing for engine management? I have 2 friends that are running similar set ups (one in a 4k, one in a cq).

    Thanks for the comments...

mhorsfield89 - As far as plans for the car, I just plan to show the car and race it every so often...But I am not doing the 6 speed trans swap yet and I do not know how good my trans holds power, so I will not be launching the car hard for a while

ruffiano - For engine management I am going to use the 034 IIc standalone. How are your friends cars doing so far?

I have a couple of questions maybe you guys can help me out with. Does anyone know how well my trans holds more power? 95 audi 90q sport. And I know now that there is a VR6 swap in a 4000 and a 90 coupe, but do you know if anyone has done this swap in a B4 yet? Or for that matter any 90 4door?

I should be posting some new pics later tonight

One of my dream combinations! Can't wait to see results on this.

You'll likely find the transmission won't together for too long if you plan to make big power. You'll want a 5 or 6 speed 01E likely. This requires additional parts, but is going to be the most reliable way to put the power down without issue.

    Cheers,

Yeah, there are a few VR6T's in coupes, 90's, etc.

    I LOVE yours though.

The tranny is going to be an issue for sure. They don't hold up so well. 016's from the 200 20v is a good substitute up to about 500awhp and then the next best thing is a wide first 01E. Those are your options.

Awesome project. We are thinking about doing this swap into my brothers 5k. Trying to decide between VR6T, 2.7TT or VR5T. So I'm anxious to see how this turns out for you. Good Luck

the tricky part for this car to go 01E is final drive. the b4s were 3:89 instead of 4:11 like the 01Es, that means you have to figure out different rear diff... that gets tricky.

Massively jealous of this project. Looks so nice and tidy in there. Been talking about this swap with a friend of mine for years since I had my first ride in a Mk2 Jetta Coupe with a VR6t, that VR noise, the power out of a stock block on even just a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and a crummy tune was plenty big, halfway decent power off boost and all he needed was traction which the 90q is going to provide plenty of. Seriously cool setup.

There is a lot of space, but fitting the 3.5 inch downpipe was nice and tight...but having to work on the motor in the future should be easy...VRs are def great motors and I am real excited to get this thing driving...I have never owned a VRt but I have been in a couple and the are def tons of fun...and like you said you throw quattro in there and its got to be amazing

Yup, this will be a great package. 3.5" downpipe is a serious stretch even with a 20v turbo which was made to fit into that space. I'm pushing my buddy with a slew of VR6t's to make either a 4000, 90 or A4 VR6t and get some traction over his Jettas,

I have yet to find a 20vt for that coin, yet I saw 3 of them with under 100k miles already pulled on the floor hte last time I went to the junkyard. All I would have to do is put them in a back of a truck and drive home. I use the lower aluminum pieces as a base for intake manifold I make, and it is always a good feeling when you just have to bend over, loosen a couple of allen bolts and remove the parts on the ground. :) I have seen VW FWD guys come to track days with a spare 12v in the back of the trailer in case the unthinkable happens. They swap them out in a couple of hours and keep motoring. When I lost a 20vt piston due to a faulty injector, I almost commited suicide. If it was a 12v, I would have not been in deep depression for 2 months, and simply would have swapped in a new motor :)

I love the I5 as much as the next guy. I got a 550whp version in my URQ, and and a few in other cars. That said, the VR6 is a cheaper way of getting to 550whp. You can do that on stock internals, a head spacer, headstuds, a cheap ATP 200$ cast manifold and a 35r.. People do it all day long in FWD cars. For every 500whp I5, there are a dozen 12v vr6t cars, and 3 24v vr6t cars. They may not have their place in competitive road racing, but they are a sweet motor for a street car. There is a replacement for displacment in turbochargers, but there is not a replacement for displacement plus turbos. They are a heavy engine, and the bias does get pretty extreme in small chassis cars that weigh only 3000 pounds. The CQ is heavy though, and the weight is not as significant. I think a URs6 avant with a healthy 12v making 500whp would be a great daily driver.

Both engines give me goosebumps at WOT, although I like the i5 at 8500 a bit more. Idle, and below 5000 goes to the vr6t though.

The vr6 is easy to work on too. There is a ton of space everywhere, the ability to put a Front mount radiato and IC, and cheap aftermarket.

If it was not for the adapters and fabrication required I would be tempted to grab one and save my 7a for building later; same for a B4 90 or C4 (well maybe a V8 in a C4).

Hey guys. Don't know if anyone is interested, but I have a black 1994 90s for sale. 5 speed, greyish cloth interior, only 127,xxx miles, clean title. It's a bit of a project car considering the last owner didn't take very good care of it and I don't have the income to give it the love it deserves. If you're interested, pm me and I'll tell you more about it and send you pictures. Asking $1500.

What hotside are you using for your turbo? I am doing a VR swap in my B5 S4, I am using a 24V that is going to get pushed to 3.0l. I have a 6765 with a .96 t4 housing. I have been thinking about going smaller.

Nice to see that you are doing this congrats.
