New here... B6 A4 Moro Blue Metallic

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just thought I'd introduce myself since I'm new to this site and new to Audi's. I just picked up this B6 A4 avant a few weeks ago after searching for a few months (6 speed, quattro, 1.8t), this is my first Audi but I've had a couple VW's before this so I'm not totally clueless. I've been lurking here for a while but haven't introduced myself just yet, I just had my Koni coilovers installed this weekend and gave it a quick wash before I snapped a few shots so I figured now was the perfect time.

04 A4 avant with 50k, it had 2 owners before me and was leased/financed by them, I picked it up at a local dealer when the last owner traded it in. As far as I can tell it seems like a base model. Moro Blue Metallic with black leather interior. The paint isn't bad but definitely needs some TLC (a handful of scuffs, esp on the rear bumper, and a ton of swirl marks... I'll be taking care of that in the next few weeks). So far I have installed smoked markers, Hoen Endurance fog light bulbs, yellow lamin-x, yellow high beam bulbs, LED license plate bulbs, Koni coilovers, shaved rear model badges, and swapped the shift boot for an alcantera one from redline goods. I'll be blacking out the grill surround up front (keeping the silver rings though, they're too classy to black out), will hopefully be doing the clear corner mod, will be getting a USP rear spoiler, am looking for a USP front bumper and S4 door blades, and would love to find some sort of new rear bumper or at least an oem replacement to get rid of the scuffed up one, other than that I may be tinting the windows (not b/c I like tint but b/c I have a new baby and the protection from the sun is worth losing the clean untinted windows). As far as performance mods go, I'm mostly interested in mpg since I commute with this car so I'll be adding an intake and maybe a chip down the road (since this engine is so weak compared to the 2.0T in the GTI). My wheel will be going on this week if all goes right, they're BBS CH's that I painted gold, I had them on my mkV GTI and am waiting on spacers to get them to sit right on the avant, also I'm looking into a different wheel set up this year but am completely undecided on what I want, leaning heavily towards an 18x8.5 non staggered set of Super RS's but only time will tell if I go through with it or not. I think that about wraps it up so here are a few shots from yesterday...

    1)

    2)

    3)

p.s. these Koni's are low... I have them all the way up in the rear and they still tuck, will be interesting trying to get my other wheels flush.

Thanks. I was never a blue car fan but this one I like, it keeps growing on me the more I look at it... I didn't even realize it was a metallic paint til just last week.

Yes it is... the stock suspension was killing me for the first 2 weeks I had it, I just can't drive a car that high anymore after driving low cars for the past 6 years or so.

Thanks. Where on LI are you? You going to the show at Legend VW/Audi this Sunday?

If you're in Suffolk you should come to our weekly gtg's, every Wed. night (weather permitting) at the Borders in Lake Grove/Stony Brook (across from Smithaven Mall). Cars normally start showing up anywhere between 8pm and 9pm and then by 10pm it is usually pretty full, good times and good people.

I'm in the Huntington area, I was thinking of shooting down to Legend for that show, but it all depends on the weather. I've heard of that Borders GTG as well.

My friend Errol lives up by you, he's driving a B6 A4 usp now I think (he changes cars very frequently so he may be in something different now, usually always a VW/Audi or even a BMW and whatever it is you can bet it is only a few mm off the ground). I also use TKX Performance for my alignments on all my lowered cars, it's a paint getting out there but they do amazing work and aren't afraid of lowered cars like most places, I'm probably going to be paying them a visit in a couple weeks after the coilovers settle.

car looks good i wouldnt waste the money on an intake as youll mostly be paying for the sounds. I would get the chip first it will make it way more fun to drive and some people say its increases mpg.

Thanks for the compliment and the advice. I was looking at some intakes and I can't understand why they cost so much when there isn't much to them... my mkV GTI had a lot more going on as far as the intake design and they cost less Maybe I'll just go back to my mk3 roots and swiss cheese the airbox instead but to be honest, I did love the sound the EvoMs intake on my mkV made.

Thanks. I'll be installing my aero wiper conversion this weekend and hopefully my S4 door blades if they get here in time, also my summer wheels will be going on.

Yes it is mine and yes it has been whored out over there (in that thread that Joe Noodles started way back when there used to be gtg's at the Loews in Westbury and even gtg's at Jones Beach), my high school Marge and suicide Homer pieces are also in that thread and my chest piece of Long Island, I haven't really posted/checked that thread in a long long time though. Chances are we've crossed paths back in our mk3 days.

Yep, I remember seeing the Long Island piece too!!!

Its possible we did cross paths at one point or another, stopped hitting the gtg's a while back though....the only ones I used to hit religiously were the yearly Superbowl GTG's that started out at Jones Beach and eventually moved to Dave & Busters.

I finally got a chance to roll my fenders and install my summer wheels. I had the wheels from my mkV so just used some spacers to get the right fit on the Audi, they're BBS CH's 18x8 et50 spaced to et32.5 in the rear and et35 up front, they have BFGoodrich KDW tires in 215/40/18.

They will be blacked out soon... I bought an upper grill from a member here a few weeks ago but the shipping supposedly got mixed up so I haven't received anything yet (filed a claim w/ paypal today). I like to get a back up before I start messing w/ stuff like that just in case I don't like the outcome or seriously mess it up. As far as the fender rolling, you can only roll the fronts since the rears don't have a lip to be rolled, they're basically "pre-rolled". There is some thick fender liner in there that can probably be removed but if you're rubbing that I don't think it would do much damage to the tires.

I've honestly only taken a few but here is one of the others, a booty shot....

Both shots were taken last night at dusk so the lighting was pretty dim, I sort of liked the dark evil look though

Thanks. And, no sir... I've upgraded to a D700 I was very close to buying a set of Super RS's to put on the Audi but then my voice of reason kicked in and said that amount of money would be much better spent towards a camera rather than some wheels besides, I've always liked my CH's so why not just keep rocking them.

Here's a recent shot, the car was dirty but in b&w you can't tell

And here's one of my latest mod, a DTM shift knob paired with a alcantara shift boot from redline goods, I like how they contrast the shiny black leather in the car and that knob is super comfy.
