To my Tiptronic!
Now that plans are more solidified, I decided to open it to the public. Originally, I was going to be more discreet about this, however, this whole thing will be documented and posted eventually, so I might as well share it earlier with the community. I happened to find a drivetrain semi close to me. Therefore out goes the tiptronic, and in goes a 6 speed manual that I purchased with 40k miles. Here is a list of the parts that are acquired or being acquired currently.
6 Speed transmission / shifter linkage / shifter boot / shifter knob / Shifter box / front drive shafts / trans crossmember / center drive shaft / rear differential / slave cylinder / pedal assembly / master cylinders / clutch hydraulic lines.
Obviously with this opportunity to take everything out, as some of you may know, I purchased Dougs stroker motor. Which will mate my 6 speed transmission. And here is my plan.
Phase I:
Greg/DTH: Will be supplying me with Clutchmasters Clutch / 034 street density motor, transmission mount, and snub mount / JHM short shifter, solid throw package / RS4 pedals and dead pedal / RS4 shift knob, and a Aluminum manual center piece.
[B]Drivetrain / Motor Swap: Done at a shop in Rhode Island.
An AEB head will be replaced with Dougs current non-high flow head. Preparing for future upgrades to the intake manifold.
I will still use my Eliminator GTRS turbo in this phase as I'm curious what a REAL manual eliminator car can do. So the turbo upgrade will not be immediate, but plans can change.
Phase II
Deciding the hardware that will be coupled with my motor. As per usual, I will be aiming for reliability, so I'm not trying to be the fastest car out there. Goal is in the regions of 400AWHP, but with stock drivability. So hardware is not 100% set stone.
Phase III
Cry...Because I could of bought a manual car easily to do this and save money. But I'm attached to my car.
Let the fun begin, I'll post pics of parts this Tuesday/Wensday, and as parts come in. Start date we are aiming for end of January, beginning of February.
