First, I think it is important that I give you a little backdrop on myself. I am a car enthusist. I have been playing with and upgrading cars for the past 30 years. I have had my fair share of cars with my favorites all being German made. My last car was a 997 Porsche C4S Cab that was appointed with forged wheels, lowered suspension and sport exhaust. When the economy turned upside down last year I decided the responsible thing to do was trade in my $120k P-Car for a $33k Certified B6 S4 from my local dealer. This was the first pre-owned car I have owned in years. However, I was amazed how clean the car was and the price was something I couldn't pass up.
I soon fell in love with the S4 and after owning it for about 7 months this forum introduced me to all the fun things to do to the S4. I spoke to most of the major high performance shops here in Southern California and finally bumped into AE Performance from this forum.
I was introduced to Ryne and Nick (the owner) and was impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm for motorsports. Part of their heritage is setting up and building race cars that are very competitive here in the local Southern California circuit. They love the sport and trust me, they are good at what they do.
What started out for me to be just a simple search for a new coilover setup for my S4 turned out to be a 4 month collaboration between Ryne and myself. I was amazed by the level of knowledge and passion Ryne has with Audi's and I became caught up in the "sport" thus, my list of modifications grew accordingly. Ryne and I probaby shared a couple hundred emails and discussed many different options over the past 4 months. With all my questions, I'm sure I was a royal pain to deal with but Ryne never made me feel that way. I never felt I was being sold but felt I was being serviced. Something I haven't found at this level in this industry in my 30 years.
After we finalized on the list we scheduled me in for service. Let me preface my remarks by saying that AE Performance is in Chino, CA. Not the most convenient location for me. However, their facility is impressive. It is adjacent to the Chino Airport and these guys have a hanger like facility. Lot's of space and nice equipment. Their main tech is Dustin. He took the lead on my car and was assisted by Paul and others at the shop. Dustin knows his stuff! He is a perfectionist. These guys work as a team. Nick and Ryne roll up their sleeves and get involved. Ryne was keeping me updated throughout the week and taking photos of my car to send me. Nick was the one who cleared my corners. The quality of work is impressive at this shop. They treat the car like their own. They didn't settle for anything less than perfect.
So, why am I spending so much time on AE Performance and so little on my car? My belief is that when you run across a company that holds such high standards like AE Performance does, they are the ones who deserve the recognition. My car is simply the results of their efforts. I want to thank Ryne, Nick, Dustin, Paul, and others for setting such a high standard for themselves and setting a high watermark in this industry. I highly recommend these guys. Next time you needs parts or service, give Ryne a call.
