My RS4 mesh mini-project

So after someone backed into my car a couple wks ago, i thuoght hell, why not use this opportunity to do the RS4 mod.

Dremeled out the S4 grills, and preparing the car for paint & I'll somehow apply the new RS4 mesh (which I got from LLtek).

Was able to bend back my hood, and now I can open it. Had to fuck w/ the latch a bit, but was able to correct it. Pulled the bumper off, and hacked away at all the grills behind the bumper, since it never really matched my RS4 hood grill.

not as expensive as the OEM mesh which is like 3xs the price of this stuff!

I did that to my stock bumper. I want to go BAT when funds permit, and plan on doing the same thing to an S4 bumper, similar to the way you are doing it. If not, the exact same way. I also used LLtek ABS plastic. You can make it stick with Epoxy. It did not come out perfect, but I like it none the less. Good luck with yours . Pretty simple DIY.

this afternoon's progress.

I was looking over the tech articles & AW for a couple wks now, trying to figure how to mount this grill onto the grill surround, and realized I had dremeled off more than I was supposed to....leaving me w/ nowhere to glue this onto.

So today I was walking up/down the isles of Home Depot, and came up w/ this brilliant plan to epoxy metal washers into the inside of the grills...and ziptie the RS4 mesh thru the washers. Well I get home...and I'm staring at everything i bought.....Epoxy, washers & JB weld...and convinced myself that it would never work or hold up.


So I grab my dremel and drill bit and went to town w/ the grill surround....and drilled tiny holes into it....to ziptie ties to.

In the end it doesn't look bad at all. lol I don't think you'd be able to really get away w/ this if your car isn't black, but fuck it.....I did what i needed to do....and I'm pretty happy w/ the results.

Sorry if I missed it, but how many pieces of the lltek stuff did you have to purchase? It would seem like 2 pieces maybe. I need to redo my mesh in my rieger rs4 bumper...

came in 3 pieces....2 for the side grills and one for the center S4 bumper. You can prob call them up, and ask how much you need them to cut for you.

Off topic question... does any one know if an S4 front from the stealer will come already equipped with lower grille frames? or do you have to get those separate.

i've seen both in person, and to me its totally different. The LLtek one is beefier and thicker.....the Home depot stuff isn't bad, but personally I never went that route b/c you were able to see everything behind the grills (fog light brackets, plastic cowl, etc). The plastic LLtek one hid it well.

Yeah, this is why I havent used the home depot stuff. The metal is very "thin" and definately doesnt look as good as the plastic
