was wondering if anyone has a DIY on how to remove the center console and radio? i recieved my Blitzsafe ipod hookup and need to hook it up to the radio and then run the ipod cable down through the center console and was thinking of having it exit near the center armrest. suggestions?

I don't have a DIY on it but I just installed a new one this past weekend. Wasn't too hard. You just need to know where it's bolted down at.

    Re: B6 center console removal?

I still have my old console so I could take some pictures of it and circle where the bolts are located. If you take out the rear ashtray you'll see two nuts that hold it down in the rear as well as one more for the arm rest. I think there 10 bolts holding it in place from what I remember.

When do you plan on doing this?

Not exactly what you're after, but jump to page 10 and you should be ok from there.

I'm trying to remove the cover around the shifter (auto) page 11 mentions to "Lever off selector mechanism cover -1-." but what it doesn't say is how to remove the chrome cover that's on top of that? anyone?

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, you should just be able to pull it off.

Take/find a pic and show us what you mean and im sure someone will be able to help.

    Re: B6 center console removal?

I started off the swap by removing the trim piece above the cup holder and the shifter trim.

Next I removed the radio, climate control, and ashtray in that order. Next, I removed the rear ashtray and the rear seat heat controls. From this point you should be able to see all of the bolts that are holding the console in place.

In this picture you can there are two 13mm nuts that need to be removed and the armrest is secured in the same opening.

In the rest of the pictures you can see where I circled the locations of the bolts that hold the console in place.

my DICE is in my armrest and I didnt have to remove the console to get it there. Armrest yes but you don't need to remove the entire console.

How does that black match up with the rest of the interior?

It's little bit diffrerent shade but not too noticeable. I painted all door handles and some other misc plastic pieces as well so there isn't much left to compare to. Thinking about painting the plastic parts on the seats too, those are pretty much the only parts still in original coating.

What kind of paint you used? I'm planing to remove the console and renew it but dont know which paint is suitable. Also did you sand the console before painting? I was thinking abou PlastiDip spray but cant find it in gray color only black is avaliable. My ceneter console is some kind of grayish (the official name of color is "Soul" like all other parts. Car is black outside.
