    Sweed's Progress Thread- 2017 SQ5

Hi All, I was a member here way back in the mid 2000's, when I had 2 B5 S4's ( not at the same time), but forgot my username/ pw and all that. We bought a 2017 A4 and my wife drove that for almost 7 years. Of course I had to add an 034 intake, then IE tune. Then we picked up a 2019 S5 Cab Prestige( Quantum) 2 years ago that my wife daily drives, and loves. No mods to that other than some wheels coming in, in the next month or 2- Most likely VMR V710FF in matte black. We'll add a RS style front grill, and maybe an intake at the most, maybe a tune down the line, but it's plenty of power for my wife.
So I was back in the Audi family, esp since I just bought a mint 2017 SQ5 in Daytona Gray about a week ago. I was looking to replace my F150 Plat that I don't really use much for towing, it's huge, and gets bad gas milage etc, but it's an awesome truck, fully loaded, great for road trips, just not really needed. Our boat just stays in the water all summer, so it gets towed 2 times a year. So I was looking for a replacement vehicle and of course the SQ5 is at the top of the list. We don't need another 2 door or even 4 door, but an SUV would be helpful. I was looking for probably 6-8+ months here and there, talked to a few places even as far as Virginia (we're in southern NH). Then... this listing pops up at the Porsche dealership right next to where we bought the S5. There were only 3 pictures. It was 55K miles, 1 owner, no accidents. So I'm thinking, ok not that many pictures, it's probably rough around the edges and the interior is used/ abused. I go to check it out and it is mint, less exterior stuff than I was expecting, and the interior looks freaking brand new! I was kind of stunned and needed a day or 2 to process it, but I'm thinking, Im buying this car. It was listed for almost 23K, and I got it for 22.5K. I wish the wheels were the double 5 spoke ones, but these will be great for snow tires. I'll probably buy new wheels/ tires next year. The previous owners spaired no expense, they put on Michelin Pilot All Season, which are easily 1200? when I've seen the cheapest sets put on these at the other car dealers. I also wish it was all blacked out, but that just means more fun projects (when I don't have enough time to begin with!) The seats are ventilated, which I love in the Cab, and these are nice because I run warm. But the quilted ones would have been nice and look awesome.
So this thread is basically to track my progress throught the years, as I will add things every so often when the time and cost is right. I won't be cheaping out on things, even though I am a cheap person, but if I can get the same outcome by spending half or more, than that's what I'm doing.
Mods I want to do in the next year to 2 years:

Tune- I have Jackal tune on the way and should be here tomorrow- You guys were right Matt gets back to you asap, and seems like a very reliable and potent tune for basically 2 tunes for the price of 1. Plus I got the taxman discount! I will be doing a Stage 2 pulley eventually with most llikely the crank pulley- 190mm-ish

Intake- Deciding between- CTS, 034, IE, GAS

Lowering Springs or spring/strut combo- 034, JHM, Bilstein/H&R combo that seems to be popular here.

Exhaust- OK, it seems like a used AWE is the go to, but the CTS one sounds good (listening online), or even just a simple muffler delete with new tips. Don't want rasp.

Black RS style front grill- Seems like the ebay ones are fine with some cutting etc. Side fog light trim covers might stay or replace with some ebay ones.

Intercooler- Merc, IE, 034- want a black one, want sleeper style

Wheels- something like a Bathhurst, the Neuspeed RSE102, Vorsteiner VFF 109, or similar. I fell in love with Ignition Tunes (youtube) BC Forged wheels, but out of the price range for now. With summer tires 21"- winter will be the stock 20's with winter tires.

Maybe things to do?-- Transmission bracket from JHM and Rear Sway bar? Yay, Nay?

I just bought a phone holder magnet thing from amazon to hold my phone, no place to put the dang phone, this will help big time.

I already love the car, in manual mode is most fun on the back roads. I'll post our "matching" license plates when mine comes in. My wife's gets attention on the Vanity plate group in FB.

Oh, maintenance things I will be doing- upgrading spark plugs (puts in cart) as I'm at 55K, plus with the new tune, I'm sure they are fine, and I'll switch them out. The super charger pulley- I can replace that when I get my crank pully done. PCV Valve, waterpump and Thermostat will keep an eye on, and might just replace when I do the pulley. VF8 liqud flush sounds like it is helpful and should be done around 70-80K? I'll be doing my own oil changes with the oil extractor every 5K miles. I do this with the S5 and works awesomely! Engine mounts sounds like another thing to keep an eye out for. I've done my research so I'm glad I restarted back on here if I have any questions.

That's it for now- here are the very stock pictures!

Jackal tune should be here today(3 days to ship!), ordered a CTS intake, JHM lowering springs, and JHM trans bracket mount. I'll probably load the tune either Sunday, Monday; or next Friday and install the intake first. Going to have a local shop install the springs/ trans mount- no time, space, or tools to do the job. Probably next month.
So that takes care of purchasing 4 items on that list!
Ordered those wheels for our S5- and those will go on, with new summer tires, the end of next month when the lows are consistently above 40*.

I did my first real mod to the interior- an amazon phone holder guy. Works perfectly!

CTS Intake was installed a few weeks ago, and love the SC whine now! Also, I finally tuned it (Jackal)- stage 1 with the trans tune. Yeah, it really wakes up the car, I love it in manual mode, now it rips!

I always love seeing what a tune does to a car, how much more power is accessible from an easy download.

Next up on the list will be installing lowering springs (JHM)- and both shops I've talked to recommend doing upper control arms while you're in there, while no where researching or watching videos of people saying to do these. What say you guys? How prone are the upper control arm bushings to failing? I'm at 56K now, I thought this would be something after 100K?
Also, I have a JHM trans bracket mount and spark plugs to do while the springs go on probably sometime next month? Between all the recent stuff and the VMR wheels/ tires for the S5 (look awesome btw), we need a break from buying stuff! I'll post pics in the B9 S5 wheel thread at the end of the month/ begining next month, depending on when low temps are comfortably above 40*F for the summer tires.
I also think a maxton front lip for the SQ5 will look great as well. So many things to do!

I would not change them if they are not showing signs of wear. you could likely get another 20,000 out of them
