Oil cap play

While close if I push down on my oil cap there is some play. Is this how it’s supposed to be ?

My 034 cap doesn't move at all when closed. The stock cap has just a tiny bit of "give". Is there oil leaking around the cap?

No, it should lock in place.

As an upgrade, I went with the R8-style cap on my 3.0L engine in the SQ5 Sportback:

The two OEM R8 oil caps I got from ECS both had play in the top part of the cap, returned both. I think it is what it is with those… I am loving this though…

For that money I'd be buying 034's. At least you know it's engineered better.

I mean, is there a possibility that Audi completely engineers a different oil cap for the R8? Sure. It's possible. But it's highly unlikely.

Yea just get the 034. Really nice and they'll warranty it no problem. Go ahead and get the PCV tubing as well while you're at it.
