Still clunking after replacing all suspension

I replaced my upper control arms, lower control arms and struts, because I had clunking. Well I still have the clunking when going over bumps in the road. It's a little quieter, but not as quiet as it should be. Argh!

I read something here about loosening and re-torqueing the strut tower. I tried, but it's a 9M triple square. I have 8 and 10M Lol. I ordered a 9M. It should be here Tuesday. I'm hoping that will work. It seems weird that that would fix it.

Anyone have any other ideas?

I had the same problem, mine was my sway bar bushings. They get dirt and water in them over time and eventually start to wear out.

I've had swaybar bushings make noise. And the front subframe bolts loosening (C6 A6). The front subframe bolts baffled my indie as I kept complaining about the noise. Eventually he found the loose bolts, removed and wire wheeled them, cleaned the threads and applied Loctite and the car stopped making noise. The car also handled way better.
Before I had my thrust arms changed (034 Density line kit on my C7.5 A6) installed, we checked all the suspension/subframe bolts and it seemed to make the car more responsive. I would urge anybody to make sure things are tightened to spec on subframe bolts and the like if you are under the car.

I did not replace sway bar bushings. I assumed since it didnt make noise when turning side to side. I'll have to check those.

Hmm, I'll have to check the sub frame as well. Guess I'll check sway bar bushings, strut tower torque,

This solved some clunk type noises for me in the past.

Transmission mount and or drive carrier …. Not sure if you skipped tie rods and sway bar endings when doing rest of suspension

Yeah they're on top of the strut under the nut. So all apart again. Worth checking the other things like sway bar bushings. Did you make sure to re-tighten the suspension at ride height too?

FWIW, I doubt it's transmission mount--I replaced mine and had zero difference in driving. And driver carrier if it's only over bumps.
