    Oil filter bypass valve?

Hi guys. I'm new to this have not posted much on forums but I've been been doing a ton of forum reading on 4.0 oil filter bypass valves and have not come up with much. I've recently had two sets of turbos go out (the culprit was the screen) and I changed the oil this last time and found a spring sitting above the filter and another small piece came out of the crankcase drain. Put it all back together and everything seems to run fine but I'm worried these pieces came from a bypass valve and I'm not filtering my oil anymore😬. Any insights? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I'd post pictures of this spring an other piece if can figure out how.
