    Anyone ever run TurboTechnics rendition of the K04? Finding little to no reviews online regarding this company but I found someone local selling the turbo and hardware for $500.

    Looks like it designed for a transverse engine (TT & S3) which uses a different exhaust flange pattern, not going to bolt up to a longitudinal 1.8T exhaust manifold.

    Looking at the TurbochargersDirect.com website and there a few K04 turbos. Obviously BorgWarner is listed, but also Factory Turbochargers ($282.89) and Turbochargers Direct ($583.95). Curious if anybody has tried those?

    Also curious if anyone has good experience with the XS Power K04 turbos also:

    Always frustrating when a supplier like turbochargersdirect offers various options but does not provide any specification identifying size of the wheels that are being used. Pretty much makes it impossible to determine what you are getting. For their KO4, they even state; " OEM BorgWarner K04 turbocharger that was originally equipped on the Volkswagen/Audi 1.8T 20v 4-cylinder". To best of my knowledge, none of the longitudinal 1.8L were ever OEM equipped with any size of KO4, unless there was a euro version offered outside USA that perhaps got a KO4?

    Recent thread with discussion of turbo sizing and current options (including xs-power);

    The response I got from them is "Both units are modeled on the BorgWarner 53049700015 / 53049880015 (K04-2075) – same specs." Sent me this attachment also.image005.jpg

    Almost comically, the spec sheet that they sent you is riddled with errors. In borg-warner terminology the "2075" designation indicates a compressor wheel that has nominal 2.0" OD exducer wheel and an inducer that is 75% the exducer OD. The -2075 is the normal wheel for a KO4-15 turbo which I think is what they were trying to sell. Whoever complied the graphic sheet however listed the compressor wheel specifications for the larger 2275 wheel (as can be found in a KO4-22 from a 225hp audi TT, shown on the attachment you received as 2.2" and 1.70" (42mm - if you are OK with sloppy unit conversions). The turbo map they included is also completely wrong for either turbo, the compressor flow that they have labeled erroneously maps up to around 100#/min which would support nearly 1000hp worth of flow for a compressor that they only show rated as 220hp! The attachment is an older version of their specifications and it looks like they subsequently corrected the errors, page 59 of borg catalog at https://www.borgwarner.com/docs/defa...ce-catalog.pdf
    in this version, they somehow managed to list the dimensions correctly and show the right compressor map!
