RS5 grill with the quattro logo

So who makes the best quality aftermarket RS5 grille these days? I'm specifically looking for one that has the white outlined quattro lettering on the bottom. I looked online and can't seem to figure out who sells a good one that fits properly.

I'll start by saying I don't think there are any out there that aren't made in China as Audi never had one built for the B8 or B8.5. I bought mine through German car accessories but later I found what looked to be the same one through China for less than half price and bought a second one. Sure enough, they are identical. Probably all of them are made in the same Chinese plant and just bought and distributed by multiple different companies in N. America. The actual quality was pretty good, a little more flimsy than OEM plastic but not too bad. The grill didn't have the right slots for the middle parking sensors so I just placed them in the correct lower area of the grill and used some Black Silicone to set them in place. Been about 3yrs and they are still good. If you want to send m your email me I can send you a pic of the grill mounted on the car. I'll keep the second one as a spare or I'll mount it on my S5 if I pull the front bumper off again sometime.

Let me ask you this---is the black plastic surround where the Audi rings are mounted part of the grill itself or is the surround a separate piece. I've seen these grills both ways and I prefer the style where the ring surround is actually part of the grille and not a separate piece that gets attached separately.

Oh, and I also wanted to ask you if the original Audi Rings fit into the aftermarket grill.

Here's one on ebay that appears to have the mount for the Audi rings as an integral part of the grill itself. It's not easy to tell from that angle, but when you see it from the back it is clearly once piece instead of two separate pieces.

The Black plastic for the Rings are part of the grill. I'm sorry I can't remember if the OEM rings fit or not. I got the full black grill with the white outlined Quattro logo as my car is Daytona Grey, they did have them with the Chrome outlined grill edges. I found a Carbon Fiber front ring that I installed and it didn't fit the slots perfectly some once again I applied a touch of Silicone to the backside and it worked perfectly. I have a Carbon Fiber hood, mirror housings, and Carbon Fiber rear spoiler which all go well with the Daytona color. I did install a Carbon Fiber hood on my S5 (Moonlight Blue Met) but I had that one painted as it didn't look good in bare Carbon with that color.

Okay, just to follow up for anyone who may be researching this in the future, here's what I learned:

Not all aftermarket RS grills are the same. In fact, there are a few different ones out there. I ended up purchasing one off a random eBay seller (in China) and it seemed fairly decent quality. One thing I didn't like about it (and I couldn't tell from pictures) is that the Audi logo rings stick way out from the grill to the point that it almost looks silly. You can really only tell when looking at the grill from the side, but it sticks out way more than my stock grill. I also noticed on this particular grill that that Audi rings are bigger than the OEM Audi rings. So you can't use your original rings if you wanted to. The paint quality seemed okay overall, but it wasn't great around the lip of the grill. The quattro logo at the bottom on the grill screws in with 3 small black screws and whoever assembled it didn't center it properly. It's probably close enough for most people, but my OCD wanted me to center it. And since it's screwed in place, it wasn't really possible to center it properly because of the existing screw holes.

So I decided to purchase another grill, this time from Canadian Auto Performance. This grill was nearly twice the price, but it ended up being totally worth it. First, the Audi ring logo doesn't stick far out and seems to be identical to the way the OEM grill has the rings positioned. And the rings themselves are the same exact size as the OEM rings. The paint quality is excellent on the CAP grill, even around the entire lip. And the quattro logo on this grill snaps into place and can be positioned however you want it. It's a much higher quality grill overall, and I think it's definitely worth the extra cost.

It sounds like the one I have is like the CAP grill. The Audi logo on mine is part of the grill and the rings don't stick out. When you say the paint it good quality then it sounds different. Mine isn't painted but the color is part just the color of the plastic, not painted over.

Both versions I purchased are painted gloss black.

My original grill has a gloss black border (lip) and it's flat black everywhere else. That's how it comes with the Black Optics package cars. I do like that look and I might spray my grill with a flat clearcoat to achieve the same look as my original grill.
