B9 180 Amp Alternator Upgrade With NEW Voltage Regulator

Have this low mileage alternator as a spare but if someone needs a new alternator I’ll let it go for asking price.

B9 valeo 180A alternator 06H903017K with a new OEM valeo B7 voltage regulator, plug and play to the B6 harness with no modifications unlike the unmodified B8.5-B9 alternator swaps.

Alternator came off of a 2018 A4 with 50k miles, and the slip ring had almost no wear when I pulled the voltage regulator/brushes off. Installed a new Valeo voltage regulator, but the B6/B7 style that features our connector and L/DFM connection vs the single wire LIN bus connection to make it plug&play. This is the same setup I run on my daily b6.

Nice upgrade. I'm running a similar build 230A version that I paid a lot more for. Added a couple of amps so wanted to make sure I had plenty of juice to supply them with.

pros: 30 more amps, more efficient design, quieter, less dead batteries
    cons: it costs money

I'm really interested in this setup. Can you tell more?

Basically, if you're running any external juice takers like amplifiers for a sound system, you'll benefit from it. If not, the oem 150A alternator is plenty.

I was interested in your hardware. What base alternator and reg combo did you put together to get 230A? I used to rebuild and make hi-output alternators (not for the Audi platform) as my side hustle back when I was college. Eventually wasn't worth the trouble but I'd love to build something for my B6.

I had Nations Starter & alternator build me one a little over 6 years ago. Was $600 so probably not something most are willing to spend. I'd jump on this one being sold here in a heartbeat if you need more juice.
