INTRODUCING THE APR CATBACK EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR THE AUDI SQ5

The APR Catback Exhaust System for the Audi SQ5 is a complete, high-performance exhaust solution that runs the entire length of the vehicle from the catalyst back. The system is sold in two sections: The front post-catalyst downpipes and midpipes, and the rear catback section. Inspired by the larger center-pipe design of the higher-output RS4 and RS5 models, this system is engineered to boost performance, and elevate sound that's sure to make a statement! Crafted from premium materials and built with advanced manufacturing techniques, this system is designed to withstand harsh conditions and deliver lasting performance. Expect a bold, aggressive growl at wide-open throttle, along with an impressive gain of 10 horsepower and 12 FT-LBS of torque to all four wheels with the full system!

    SYSTEM OVERVIEW

    UNMATCHED DESIGN AND PRECISION ENGINEERING

The APR Midpipe System includes downpipes and midpipes that travel post-catalyst in the engine bay to the underside of the vehicle, eliminating the factory resonators in the process. The APR Rear Catback System starts just after the midpipes but can be combined with our midpipe system to making this a true full-system upgrade. We’ve minimized restrictions with smooth transitions, oversized piping, and a straight-through muffler. Constructed from mandrel-bent T304 stainless steel with a brushed finish and TIG welding throughout, this exhaust system is as durable as it is striking. Installation is hassle-free, thanks to precision-fit brackets, OEM-style slip clamps, including adapter clamps making both systems compatible with either our systems, or the factory systems.

    INSPIRED BY RS PERFORMANCE

Like the RS4 and RS5, this system features a reengineered exhaust routing design. It utilizes dual 2.5” (63.5mm) downpipes to dual 2.75” (70mm) midpipes pipes merging through a cast Y-junction into a massive 3.5” (91mm) midpipe, replacing the restrictive factory dual-pipe setup. The exhaust valve is fully integrated with the OEM control system, adjusting automatically to enhance sound during aggressive driving while maintaining a quieter profile during cruising. When closed, exhaust gasses route through the rear muffler featuring straight-through sound absorption technology and when open, bypasses the rear muffler all together.

    EXPERIENCE THE APR DIFFERENCE

Designed for enthusiasts seeking the perfect balance of power, sound, style, and quality, the APR Catback Exhaust System for the Audi SQ5 is a testament to engineering excellence. With its performance-driven design and durable construction, this system not only transforms your driving experience but also ensures years of reliable performance.

    FEATURES AND BENEFITS

    • Plug-and-Play with APR and factory system.

Sounds great! @cmil527 seems it starts at $599 for the midpipe, and $1999 for the full catback.

This was my question as well. Spoke with a member of their engineering team at the Haus Party back in October and gave him my contact info if they need a car to scan since I'm only a couple of hours away from them in Atlanta and have the Sport Tips installed.

When this system was designed, the intent was for it to be plug and play with the factory bumpers.

If you are still interested in coming down so we could scan the vehicle, I could speak with the team. Just to be up front, I can't guarantee anything will come of it until I gather more info.

    I do have some questions.

    • Are B9 customers willing to swap bumpers?
    • Are B9.5 customers willing to remove the fake tips and cut their bumper?
    • Are some vehicles coming from the factory floor with real tips and no trimming (I can't configure this option on Audi's website)?

    Thanks!

Can't speak for B9 owners. I can say there are a lot of B9.5 owners that already have the Port Installed (After the factory, before the dealer) "Hot Pipes" or Sport Exhaust installed on their vehicles which isn't reversible and therefore would make the rear section of the vehicle with your exhaust installed look oddly unfinished. That said, I am very happy this exhaust is offered in two parts that don't total more than the cost of buying each separately.

    Here are the parts: https://parts.audiusa.com/accessorie...nd-Design.html

B9 owner and no I dont want to swap bumpers or have option for tips or connection to OEM tips. Completely fine with turn downs. But all the people with tips would I am sure like an option for this.

I have a different question...if I had another exhaust on the car already could I only buy the catback section and connect up? I am interested in switching over...just dont want to do the mid pipes again.

The B9.5 Sport Exhaust tips are dealer (or owner) installed - they're only available as a dealer add-on. Anecdotal of course, but I now see quite a few B9.5s with these tips (install takes a bit of time to do well but is overall easy to do - but always requires cutting out the rear valence).

The Sport Exhaust tips already contain the driver side exhaust flap and are designed to bolt up to the stub exhaust exits of the stock muffler so as I see it, the entire rear section of the APR offering would have to be redone to accommodate.

But at least the mid pipes are available as a separate SKU, which is a good consolation IMO.

APR Exhaust System for the Audi SQ5

Could you maybe reengineer a rear section for those of us who want to buy a full exhaust from you but retain the factory sport tips for our B9.5. There is ZERO OPTION for us and you. Guys most likely would get tons of sales, including mine! That would be awesome!

The B9.5 bumper is designed to be cut out for the add-on OE tips. It’s a port/dealer installed option.

If you watch the video posted earlier of the guy installing the tips, part of the procedure is to move the valve motor to the tips after you cut off the OE downturn.

    https://youtu.be/2aw_iZ_ynLA?si=YazxyBtilpUsx99p

6:49 in the video, you can see the valve motor on the car before he cuts the pipe off. At 7:22 he moves the motor to the new pipe with the tips.

We include the reducer clamp setup so it will bolt up with the factory midpipes. Our midpipes then include the reducer so it will connect to the factory catback. MPK also includes the straight clamp so it connects to our catback with no reduction.

I'll definitely look into this if the demand is there. I just of course can't promise anything, or let's put it this way, anything quick.

I do have some questions though. Are people mainly after quad slash cut tips, and are you looking for a clamp on style tip so they can be swapped across our various options (Single wall polished, double wall polished, double wall brushed, double walled black). Ir is a totally different route preferred (like an all new RS style black oval tip - everything welded in place).

Speaking for myself, I like the idea posed by SQ5-4RiNGS above to utilize the already installed tips as they are clamp on. This looks unfeasible given the exhaust pipe routing difference between the new solution and the OEM muffler.

The quad slash cut tips (with no bumper protrusion) look good to me, and I wouldn't be interested in RS style, but the market at large may have different ideas.

There should be an option for APR to provide (offer) clamp on tips that allow the exhaust to exit where the OEM option is. It looks like you could weld a different (short/straight) pipe on the rear bumper side of the valve and then engineer the solution with a similar idea for the pipe welded on the passenger side. From there the angle and length of clamp on tips could be deciphered.

A literal plug and play solution with tasteful tips (cause the factory sport exhaust tips are nice looking). One that for those of us (which is a lot) that have the bumper already cut from the port installed tips, can literally just buy and put in a APR exhaust with tips in the factory exhaust place… just like this…

amen... I'm just looking for a bit more tone as my sport tip with ecs xpipe/res delete is as loud as all the exhaust clips I've currently heard of systems offered.

Yeah not one plug and play system from any company for a person with a 21-24 B9.5 with port installed tips with bumper already cut. Wish there was. I’d buy immediately!

APR Exhaust System for the Audi SQ5

Or a system that allows us to use our factory sport tips where the muffler section has correctly cut and bent pipes out of muffler to accept the sport tips so there is no guess work and again is plug and play with little to no adjustment cause it was made correctly!

And then you have us SQ5 Sportback owners with no option for the OEM Accessory "Hot Tips", so we will take the APR Exhaust w/Turn-down Tips as-is.

Keep in mind the our system is dramatically larger than stock. The pipe before the valves is 3.5" (88.9mm). I think the factory system is maybe 2.5 (63.5) at most?

So you have identified a need for both types of systems. APR take note!

Ok… that can be solved by designing a system with tips that fit that opening that is cut for those of us who have the factory sport exhausts. I sure you will see the flood of people buying that!

    Looks like a solid system.

ECS tuning has 10 percent off on all Apr stuff including this system.

I'm amazed by how much APR as well as other exhaust producers doesn't know about the B9.5.

Received the exhaust yesterday and while I was already under the car installing my sway bars. I started removing the OEM exhaust. I bought the full exhaust but plan to only install the rear portion for now, I'll do the mid pipes later.

First impressions, the design is very install friendly with clamps placed in very thoughtful areas. The workmanship looks great! I love the modular design.

Removing the OEM was about a 45 minute job on ramps, it's not difficult, just annoying getting the hangers off and contorting around the under body panels.

The OEM pipes are horrendous with bends and kinks everywhere. Apr pipes are significantly better, though I have little to no expectations for performance gains. It's just an observation.

I lost daylight so I decided to get everything ready with the hangers and valve in place to make tomorrow's install easy. I'll come back to provide an update later.

Still waiting on APR to provide a solution for those of us with the factory sport exhaust tips. As to why they don’t want to acknowledge the many of us who have them and most likely are willing to buy is beyond me?

I think you can still do what stock Audi dealer do. Just saw off the tips and clamping the newer tips on

What are these "Sport Exhaust Tips" you speak of?<sarcasm!!!> - says a B9.5 Sportback owner who knows there's no other exhaust option except for an aftermarket turn-down solution, like APR's:

FWIW, I recently had Chinese-sourced exhaust panels installed on my Sportback to black-out the fake exhaust tips, as chrome tips just drew attention to it.

Update. Everything is installed and torqued to spec. I'm having a few fitment issues and I've reached out to apr for support and sent them pictures. Hopefully they get back to me soon.

The center piece is resting on the cross brace which can't be right. Any bump will cause noise and there will be resonance through the chassis. Also some rubbing/touching on the heat wrap.

How do you like the sound? Thinking of doing midpipes only until they figure out how I can keep my sport tips.
