    Airbag light after seat replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I replaced both drivers and passenger front seats on my 08 S4 cabriolet. The seats came from another 08 cabriolet but I still have the airbag warning light on. Is this something I can fix with the vag-com ? Anyone know how to get the light off? Thanks

Airbag light will illuminate for other sensors in the system, will need vag-com to see what the issue is as it will pin point the fault sensor or controller.

If you swapped the seats without disconnecting the battery, that's a known thing to happen.

Ideally scan for codes, save log, and clear it to see if anything comes back.

Thanks. I have the Vag-com and will try to clear them when I get the car back. Sent it in for the airbag recall.

Happens often due to loose connections. On my dad's car that usually occurred when the seat was pushed back at max for vacuuming... and yeah that was some headache because the Airbag light wouldn't just go off unless VCDS coded. (and we didn't have one :) Good luck !

So I am still getting the airbag light after clearing the codes. After researching more I think I messed up when replacing the seats. I think the donor car was a 2006 cabriolet. The seats looked identical and plugs are all the same so I “assumed” they should be plug and play. From what I am reading the 2008 used a different seat monitor. Anyone with knowledge on this? The error codes that keep coming back are. 02511 J706 & 02756 E224
I will try to post pics of the vcds codes.

When you swap front seats in a b7, you need to swap the pass occupancy sensor/module. I had to do it when I put b8 s4 seats in my b7.
Pretty sure you can adapt another module, but easiest to just use your old one.

From my recollection you will need to pull the seat occupancy plate from your B7 seat and put it in the B6 seat you put in. They don’t use the same mechanism. It’s a pain as it sits under the cushions.

My main problem is that I already got rid of my old seats. I guess I will start looking for 08 seats.

You don’t need another seat. You just need a seat occupancy sensor from a B7 like this one.
