Greetings folks,
2019 A7 with 44k miles. Just bought late December. Presenting a metallic ticking or tapping noise on driver’s side of the engine.

The noise is most pronounced when cold, at idle, and under light acceleration. Oddly, it doesn’t start until the idle drops off a cold start, and disappears at cruising speeds or when letting off the accelerator. Once warm, it’s only noticeable if you’re told to listen for it.
Audi master tech at first inspection said it was normal engine noise or injectors/valves and normal. Second inspection said it could be faulty rocker arm. Other Audi techs have said it’s normal and all the 3.0T engines tick.
It’s much louder and sharp in the video than in person. Guessing due to iPhone mic quality. I’m going to send an oil sample into Blackstone later this month.
Thoughts on what it could be?
