    Continental DWS06 vs Michelin PS All-Season 4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I'm working on new rubber... 275/35/21 on my new wheels. I'm torn between the Michelin and Continentals. The tire rack reviews look just about dead split, the the PS a/s4's are about $75 more per tire, but Sams club has them at $399, with my CC giving me 5% on club stores puts the price between these 2 dead even. So between the 2, which is the better tire, and why? I like the squared shoulder of the Michelin vs the rounded crown of the continental, but aside from that, what are the thoughts?

From what I've noticed, between this forum and the Bmw forums, folks are split and both tires are excellent. I have experience with the DWS on numerous vehicles including my current X3M and I love them. Had great luck with tread wear and comfort. They handle extremely well. Some folks on the bmw forum with X3Ms love the Michelins for similar reasons.
I'm of the opinion that if you want to save some money, going with the Continentals won't be a downgrade or detriment.
I considered the Michelin all seasons for my wife's RS3 prior to pulling the trigger on a winter set of wheels and Michelin snow tires. So there's that

I had PS 4's on my Cadillac Blackwing, but those were summer's. I also had the DWS06's on my c7 A6 and GTi. They are great tires, and now with the club price and my 5% cash back, that makes the price of the 2 brands identical. I'm torn here.

Understandable. I'd say you won't go wrong with either choice. Especially if the cost to you is equal now between the brands.

I will say I have the Pilot sport all season 4's on my a6 and absolutely hate them because of how loud they are. I don't know if its just because my A6 is so quiet but it honestly sounds like driving a car with seriously cupped tires. Even my wife made a comment about how loud they were. I actually even contacted Tire Rack about this and Michelin replaced them with a new set but even the new set makes the same noise. Its interesting that its not really talked about in many reviews except in one older tire rack video they mentioned the interesting harmonics of the tire. Maybe I'm to sensitive to the road noise or something but I really cannot wait to get rid of them. I will say when I was searching high and low for tires I was amazed how little options there were in 21's tires. the continentals will be quieter for sure but IMO they have a super soft sidewall which I dont really like for such a heavy vehicle. Again this is just my 2 cents, so your mileage may vary.

I agree with Biggu. I had the pilot sport all seasons on my old S6 and they were loud. I couldn't wait for winter so I could put on my quiet winter tires!!

Noted, thanks for the input... The continentals are quiet, at least have been in my previous vehicles.

I have had both on my Audi's. Just like mentioned by other members, the Michelins get louder as you put miles on it. When I had the Continentals I had bad luck with sidewall damage and flat tires. They seem to have softer rubber.

I have Conti's on my 2024 RS7 and love them. Great in both wet and dry situations and very quiet. Highly recommend

Also chose DWS06 Plus for my RS6 instead of PS4AS. Ultimately these are large luxury cruisers and think it’s better suited. Don’t have experience with the non-plus DWS06 but supposedly they improved sidewall stiffness a decent bit for the DWS06 Plus

Done!! Now if the damn weather here would break, I could paint my calipers and mount these things up! The tires will be here in < 7 days

I personally prefer Michelin tires. I had a couple sets of 285/30/22 DWS06+ but they've gone flat over the potholes. I've switched to 295/35/21 PS AS4 and they have lasted longer than the DWS06s. But it's also because of the thicker side walls and I'm lucky to not run over any crazy big potholes.

I agree with you in my preference for Michelin tires but the last set of pilot sports I bought were disappointing since they were so loud. I’d rather replace quieter tires sooner than stick with loud tires longer.

I’ve ran both from new down to bald. conti is a bit quieter. the conti had marginally better grip in the dry. The psas had the best rain traction i’ve ever experienced on a tire, period. If you live somewhere rainy, get the michelin. If you’ll primarily be using it as a summer tire, I could go both ways, the conti would be the slightly better choice though.

Hearing that these are basically a toss up between the two, I gotta lean toward the quieter tire.

    Continental DWS06 vs Michelin PS All-Season 4

We have two sets of each as three season tires. I’ll buy next set on perceived (1) durability/mileage and (2) how quiet they remain as they age.

Don’t notice the last set of PS all season 4 S getting loud last time we tran them to about 4mm. But that was on Q7 which seems pretty quiet.

I've had two sets of the Conti DWS on my 15' Mustang 5.0 and absolutely loved them. Still running the Pirelli's that came with the A7 when I bought it, but looking forward to going back to Conti when these burn up.
