Carbon cleaning usually refers to buildup on the intake valves, cleaning it requires removing supercharger , fuel lines, intake manifold etc. and manually scraping / soaking off all the built up deposits….
Not sure if they’re conflating carbon cleaning valves with servicing the secondary air system. The secondary air filter and tube and located inside your bumper cover and from what I’ve read can be cleaned by dealership or DIY flushing out debris from that hose.
All of our EA837 will benefit from valves carbon cleaned at some point, but you can delete the SAI system for cheaper if you’re not worried about local emissions testing.
They should be two separate unrelated issues IMO
