Does anyone know how I can get into my VCDS and change a value or something so my car does not turn the check engine light on every other day or so. Now that the weather is getting warmer my check engine light come on more often. The stealership wants 3k just for that clean alone and I don't think its worth that. Audi does not want to admit to their design flaw and wants to hand this charge down to the consumer. This P0491 code has been a headache for the last year or so.

The p0491 code comes back almost everyday in the warmer weather. I was told at the dealer that it needs a carbon clean and the system works ok but not sure if they checked the valves, etc. Can anyone confirm that the light coming back on in warmer weather is carbon buildup. It was only coming on a couple times a week in the colder weather.

Carbon cleaning usually refers to buildup on the intake valves, cleaning it requires removing supercharger , fuel lines, intake manifold etc. and manually scraping / soaking off all the built up deposits….

Not sure if they’re conflating carbon cleaning valves with servicing the secondary air system. The secondary air filter and tube and located inside your bumper cover and from what I’ve read can be cleaned by dealership or DIY flushing out debris from that hose.

All of our EA837 will benefit from valves carbon cleaned at some point, but you can delete the SAI system for cheaper if you’re not worried about local emissions testing.

They should be two separate unrelated issues IMO

sorry I meant to say the SAI ports needed to be carbon cleaned. The P0491 code is for bank 1. The walnut blast is for the intake values. I'm sure I would need that at some point as well
